Well, big difference between Canada and Mexico. Cops in Canada face heavy prosecution for breaking the law. Whether they were found guilty in all these above cases is another issue, but the fact is we all know our rights in Canada, some of us know them very well. If we make a claim we were assaulted or there was wrongdoing by police here in Canada, and your case has strong basis, there is proper and due process. Mexico not so much...

I was assaulted by a bouncer while 3 cops watched; then thrown in jail by another cop for asking for his badge number. I fought this case and with witnesses present at the trial, won.

I'm highly doubtful this case would have had legs in Mexico :)

You didnt quite catch the point. My point is that as much as we drone on about mexico, outsiders could say the same thing about our cops based on some of the stories coming out of here. I dont intend to defend mexican cops. But perhaps we should look after our own house. As for due process, im pretty sure that in most cases above, no cops were charged or convicted. Of the thousands of incidents at G20, the SIU said that there was not enough evidence to charge any cops (they all had their badge numbers and faces hidden). Only when the star made a big deal a few weeks ago did the SIU open an investigation.

im glad you won your case but your victory is a rare one. Esp in light of the abuse that takes place daily.

Often the difference between canada and mexico is that here, corruption is better hidden behind walls of regulation and bureaucracy. In Mexico its very open and street level.

All points agreed... although I don't think there can be any debate over who is more corrupt. Mexican police will take a payoff probably 99% of the time ... lol

Yeah, those are *reported* cases. It's probably safe to say that both charts are incredibly inaccurate, given that most rape cases in countries with lower education standards/higher rates of corruption are rarely reported.

thats true. This is why crime in canada is supposedly going down when in reality its probably going way up. Its just that a lot of people dont bother to report it anymore since they are too used to it.

Women should just walk around with this, just incase they think they will be raped...

Is that one of those things where the guy tries to rape the girl and then when he pulls his penis out it locks onto his wang with spikes and he has to go to a hospital to get it removed? That would work...except now you just royally pissed off your rapist and he'll more than likely kill you on the spot.
