Whats up fellow TA'ers!!! Did a search for a similiar thread but got nada. So here it goes..

Looking for hotel recco's from Vet's or Locals with knowledge. This will be my groups first 'UMF' party venture to Miami. There will be 6-8 of us attending. We aren't going for UMF, but the one-offs.

Looking for a hotel that combines the best location (somewhat central) and the best value (nothing toooo outrageous).

Your input is appreciated!

Cheers

your best bet is to get a hotel in south beach. All the pool parties and majority of the clubs are within walking distance so you never have to spend money on cabs (unless you go to downtown to Space or any afterhours).

if you stay at the shelborne hotel you also get free tickets to every pool party and club event at Shine. The same goes with other hotels with their own clubs/pool parties. Each has its own perks.

i stayed at Shelborne 2 years ago with 4 people. Room was small but had a fridge/microwave. Best part was that i could go in and out of the pool parties/clubs(even the sold out ones) and save money by drinking/partying in my room. If you can afford it, i would stay there.

This year i needed a bigger room (for 6 people)so i got a suite at the Dorchester, right across the street from Shelborne. No clubs/pool events there but i'm still close to everything.

My advice is to read the reviews on whatever website u plan to buy from (expedia/priceline etc.). If you plan on partying a lot of and are just using the room for sleep then a budget hotel with small room and a small bathroom is the way to go. If you wanna party in your room or have after parties then your gonna have to spend more for a nicer hotel.

Great info. Thank you!

Any other recommendations regarding accomodations?

Shelborne looks nice but $1600 for four nights seems a bit steep! Or is this to be totally expected based on the weekend/time of year?

Def SoBe. Some clubs are downtown but its so much nicer in South Beach. I always stay either on Ocean Ave or Collins between 5th and 20th. Nothings beats drinking at your hotel/pool with your group then waling down the street to the pool parties. Would much rather do that and cab at night if need be than the opposite. Lots of great food on Ocean too.

I booked Hotel Victor for UMF week so I assume if there's a party there I'll have access... no?

yep, all the good hotels run 400-600 a night during ultra/wmc week. Anything less than that is considered low budget i would say. It's definitely more cost efficient to get a room with a bunch of friends and split it.

I did Victor last year and it's an awesome place. Perfect location and really nice. They had sick parties too hosted by Listed I believe and it was free to go. I remember Lee Burridge was there one day. Only downside is it's not easy to nap so bring earplugs cause the parties outside didn't stop :D

the last two years I'd stayed in Downtown which is also very convenient. Ultra, Space, Karu & Y and Bayside marina which is where most of the yacht parties depart are within a 2-5 blocks radio from our condo. =)
I used to stay at the beach before but then i realized i would spent most of my time downtown. having the beach at u doorstep is nice but i never end up going anyway, it could get a little too cold to go in the water during March also.
you could get a luxurious condo in downtown for the price of an old crappy room in sobe.
