We got 2-3 inches last night but almost every year we hear this same bull about some storm that's gonna produce alot of snow. Well it never happens. They are saying a couple feet of snow but im guessing we get 10-12 inches & that's all.
I gotta say though it is a ing blizzard outside right now. Very cold, very windy & the snow is coming down at a decent rate. The weather people were saying 3pm the blizzard will start. Well for once they were almost right on the money since it started at about 2:45pm today. Im actually kinda excited since I own a plow truck & if it's bad im gonna close the store tomorrow. If it gets a couple feet, ill try & get some pics. |

also, technically for it to be a blizzard the following conditions have to be met:
winds > 30kts
visibility < 1/4" mile
lasting for at least 3 hours simultaneously. |

Less than an hour and I'll be doing just that, waking up tomorrow to do more of the same. |

I remember 99 & it was a compared to this. I just got back from driving in this & visibility is from 50-75 feet tops. At times I had 0 visibility from the wind gusts and basically stopped on the road. Cars are stuck all over Elgin Ohare & other main roads. No side streets have been touched by the plow trucks so unless you have a solid 4X4 there is no chance your going anywhere. All stores closed way early a only a few gas stations are open. I was out for about 2 hours trying to plow a little bit but it was pointless due to the blowing snow & drifts. On my way back in my side street wasnt touched & I was driving through at least a foot of snow. So yeah, I think this is a blizzard. |

Just got off the phone with my buddy who is gonna be out plowing all night & he said its getting worse & worse the 6 hours he has been out. He also swears to me he seen lighting & alot of it. Now i did not believe him until I started hearing thunder & alot of it also. This is crazy.
T-Bills, I never knew it was possible for snowstorms to contain thunder & lighting... Or am I ing high off too much coffee. |

Went there in September for the first time. With the lake could Navy pier up to Michigan ave get f'd? :wtf: Also, could get a great view of lightning/snow from the top of the Hantower.
Last week NYC area got a loud ass boom so its a fact you get the lighting and thunder during a snow storm |
