As we embark into a new year, there are certain artists out there who succeed in leaving an everlasting impression in our minds. In 2011, STEREO is proud to announce one of the newest members of the family, Toronto's finest, CARLO LIO.
After emerging into the scene in the past two years, he has signed some groundbreaking releases on imprints such as Dubfire's SCI+TEC Digital Audio, Audiofly's Supernature Records, including his very own Rawthentic Music. The Toronto native consistently proves to us why he refuses to back down into the shadows. CARLO LIO will showcase his signature high energy sound of chuggy, yet hypnotically pulsating tech-house grooves four times a year, in addition to occasionally inviting special guests from across the globe. BIOGRAPHY
If music is the Universal language then Toronto Native, Carlo Lio is surely multilingual. It is this universal appeal that has allowed Carlo to speak to so many people without ever having to say a word. His ability to capture sounds and emit them so expressively is a gift. Music has always been a priority in Carlo’s life; anyone who witnesses him gracing the decks can attest to this. Carlo can turn a careful observer into a dancer through the raw emotion and passion in his music. Music is a language; it is a means of connectivity, intimacy and communication and Carlo has brilliantly captured and shared this with his fans.
As a DJ, producer: & businessman. His continued efforts both in and out of the booth have paid off. Teaming up with studio partner Nathan Barato to create Rawthentic Music, Carlo has been pounding out numerous quality hits which have received plenty of local & International support. One concern though.. will it be the same night as BlackOut every month?

Great business decision making Lio a resident, he's only going to get more and more popular.. Will he only be spinning on friday nights?
Definitely attending tomorrow night.. looking forward to catching the Junkies as well. It's gonna be BASSSSY.

Got in to Stereo at 3:30.. I can't drink cuz I'm on meds so it's weird walking in not even a little bit buzzed but whatever. At this point Stereo's at about 50% capacity.. first thing I noticed, omg the women! I've never seen so many hot chicks at Stereo before. The crowd was 50% chicks, and 50% straight guys.. I didn't see one topless dude the whole night. Crowd was also very drunk, cuz they were also very young. Lots of 21-22 year olds. Missed Nathan Barato completely, and the Junkies were on. I didn't enjoy their set very much, it was kinda cheesy and too loud for a warm up set. They were playing all out banging tech house with too much high pass filter, white noise build ups, etc.. it was just noisy.. EQing was off. Mixing wasn't too bad..but the crowd seemed to be loving it. At one point, this cute young blonde chick literally grabs me by the arm and pulls me into the middle of the dance floor and starts grinding on my cack, I tried talking to her but she was so pilled out that she couldn't even speak, so I just gave up and just started touching her all over the place lol..
Carlo Lio came on around 5, and started off with an absolute bomb of a track. Immediately the music, vibe, and sound was much improved. At this point a lot of drunks had left and more afterhours types filled the dance floor, the vibe became more friendly.. Lio's mixing is absolutely top notch. Extended breaks of laying off the bass allowed him to take over the dance floor as he dropped some tribal, some dirty techno, and tech house. Also loved his teaser drops, he sampled a few tracks, I just think this guy's a master of traktor lol.. he always had his eye on the crowd and just killed it last night. Carlo Lio's style is meant for Stereo. Dark and slow, but sexy and heavy all at the same time. I didn't stay till the end, we left around 7 cuz we were all pooped..
All in all, I had a great time last night, even if I was only there for about 4 hours. Ended up meeting a very hot woman from Barcelona, omg I love spanish womenz. The crowd was very young, younger then normal.. but the amount of hot chicks more then made up for the pushy drunks starting Oi Oi Oi chants and . Lio is honestly a very solid DJ, he's meant to spin afterhours sets, he was smooth as silk. I think his residency will slowly build into one of the bigger nights, good for fridays. As usual, the staff at Stereo is just stellar and professional. Thanks to Ostrich for hooking us up with reduced ticketlist..
