About the light show if you compare it to the light shows of big events this is so poor, i said looks like 1995 because i remember that they involved flashes, green/blue/red lights, simple in short.

Now you have tridimensional structures, lasers , leds , smoke , fireworks... it has become a show in itself, just check on youtube "Light Show at trance energy for example" and you'll find a lot of videos showing just the lasers

Even the Verzus (Hasselt, Belgium) already had a way cooler light show many years ago (like 18 actually) when it still was called Dockside (biggest club in Europe then). Think I counted 48 scanners once. I liked those much more than the many lasers they had too. The moving rings at the ceiling could be lifted for about 8 meters and rotate, amazing to see :)

First ones are not that impressive but wow on the 3rd video the atmosphere is amazing!!

What's the track btw ?? i know it...

Sometimes simple is better, this is in a club in my city, it's 8 am but the club was packed and people totally wild. The lightshow is just the flash which does his function here ;)

anomalies
Tiesto still plays trance, just his own classics, not other artists. Don't know how people have trouble understanding that concept.

What kind of setup are you using at home? What equipment do you use?
Am I right in guessing that you've recently taking up DJ'ing?
Dj Pluviose
I'm not anything significant, I have no equipment and I have no knowledge about anything.

Most of the questions I asked on here was for reassurance.
I mean, some of the questions I asked are kinda stupid and common sense, but I just wanted to make sure I was right.

Well, I like to make mixes!
I've made a few mixes, but nothing worth noting
My mixes are probably crap compared to you guys, so it's not worth listening to either.

I use Virtual DJ, an illegal copy, yet I don't even use VirtualDJ for making my mixes. I never read a manual and I've never used a deck, so I asked questions like "what is this and that?" so I can learn!

I'm not a DJ... but I do have dreams of becoming a DJ. not for the fame, but I've always felt some kind of urge to share my music with people and take them on a journey.

as a matter of fact, I regret putting DJ before my name
I'm not a DJ

so I guess my only lame excuse would be "just for s and giggles"

On topic, there are chances that this is some kind of mash up, the famous power mix was pre recorded , you can rarely see some of this guys taking risks on mixing, just think that if tiesto trainwrecks you'll have 500 topics on forums the following day.

Btw judging from the clip quality i think that he has just mixed the piano part on top of the outro of the other song, this is actually good phrasing, you beatmatch the tracks and cue in the piano part exactly when a phrase of the playing song finish. I don't think this is even perfectly executed.

And yes lightshow is very simple, this could easily be from 1995 instead of 2009.

I have Tiesto's - Parade of Athletes Mix, listen to it. I counted at least 2 HUGE HUGE HUGE Eff ups.

Yeah, I used the strobes a lot when I DJ'ed and sometimes was Light Jockey in a local club for 1200 people long ago. But some people don't like strobes to long, so I now like colored scanners more.
I even still have a strobe light somewhere I think :)

I couldn't really find good videos of the Versuz except that last one. Filming in wide angle would help to give a better impression.
Think the photo's like in "Last Event" give a pretty good view how amazing the Versuz still is: http://www.versuz.be/
What impressed me most was the hight in the main room. It's like 3 floors high. They have two fans with smoke machines behind it. Is really cool to see these fill such a huge space with smoke in just 10 seconds :) Also they gave a cool horizontal tornado effect for some seconds when you are right in front of one of them.

Their youtube channel also has a nice one I just noticed:

seems like a cool club i am going to Brussels next week and i see they open on Monday, probably i will invent a new clubbing day and show up there if i have some time, is this close to Eindhoven isn't it?¿ Half of the website is in dutch well i guess being Belgium and the Netherlands so close having such a club in the middle of the 2 countries is a good idea.

About the lights they have put a new system now and it's all triggered through a computer, i haven't tested all the options yet, there are like 20 and you can modify the color to your own taste (unlimited tonalities of red for example) there is an intro & outro mode... all you can imagine, still i love the tilting white flash :P simple but is better than the sickest music to move the crowd, using the lights well is just another art i prefer the indoor festivals, i can't imagine electronic music without lasers and i enjoyed less the daytime outdoor festivals...

Ps: Reach the laserz bro!

The distance to Eindhoven (62km) is about the same as to Brussels. Hasselt is right below Eindhoven on the map. It's closer to Maastricht though (38km).
The Versuz is the most impressive club, but clubs like Mondial (Beek, NL), Starfish (Aachen,DE), Peppermill (Heerlen, NL), Real (Tongeren, BE), Bozzini (Kerkrade, NL) also are worth mentioning. The smallest can have have 1500+ people I think and they are all inside a 50km radius. There even are some more I forgot about and countless small clubs.

Bozzine is in a wing of the soccer stadium where Roda JC Kerkrade plays, so pretty high inside :) Light frames also can be lifted and placed under different angles. I like moving frames, looks very spectacular. A scanner of it's own already is a small computer, so if you have many....

Unfortunately my clubbing days are over, but I think everyone shout enjoy them while they can. Good memories :)
