don't assume this is a troll i give him the benefit of the doubt, actually he handles some concepts and terms i'm sure some people are thinking what the is this guy talking about, at least is an experienced troll ^^

But yes i found surprising that Leon Bolier had his entire software collection legit, i can see a lot of producers, mainly the "beedromish" ones using torrent downloaded stuff, just face it having a decent "studio" will cost you 3000$, for that price you can get some hardware...

I am well known european trance/house producer and Dj, not a biggest name but let's say top 200 on djmag. I have made a living in the music industry ~10 years now producing tracks for myself and other known names in the biz (+ some top10 pop artists) and djing all over the world. And I have never ever bought any piece of software I use or any track I play on my sets. Why? Because why the hell should I pay for anything I can get for (almost) free? If I have paid for all the virtual instruments/AU's, plugins, loops, sampleslibraries and daws not even mention all the tracks I play on dj sets, i would be, well not in bankruptcy, but lets say it would be a big cut from my last 10yrs income. I would be crazy to voluntarily pay for something I can get for free.

Of course i have to pay all the hardware im using like xone 4D, ipad and apc40, hw synths like access virus (mostly older analogs), my MACs, mackie daw controller and reference monitors, headphones and all the other stuff like bass/guitar amplifiers and hardware compressors.

I always have newest software possible without paying horrible amounts for sw developers thanks to paid ftp sites im using. Software there is always up to date and im constantly getting new stuff basically for free as i only pay about 50e per month for access to 3-4 ftp sites. You have to had some organizing skills and have to be very systematic. Have a dedicated computer for downloading and cracks, daw-computers are always offline so no updates are applied automatically or without me knowing it.

Software I use: Ableton live 8, Nuendo, Logic Pro, Sylenth1, NI stuff, refx stuff like Nexus 2 with all the libraries, vanguard with lots of soundbanks, Traktor, Spectrasonics stylus, trillian and omnisphere, massive amount of kontakt sound libraries like east west, vienna, fxpansion stuff, ~220 sample cds, waves and sonnox efx and about 200 other plugins and au's I use less or more.

I have ~70k mp3s and I have bought none of them, maybe 5% are promos and rest is downloaded from ftp/torrent. Usually quality is very good 320 kbps mp3 or even wav but I occasionally play 128bit mp3 on my big room dj sets and really no one can tell the difference between the good and bad quality of audio (or at least no one has ever complained about this).

You can do the math: 60k tracks x 1e = 60kE. Then count sample cds, kontakt libraries are expensive and i have ~50 of them, all the plugins and effects and so on. This stuff would cost at least 150kE total and its pure profit to me and in fact for the whole society as no one gets hurt and im not stealing any real stuff, only bandwith with 0 and 1. So in a nutshell: I create something that raises GDP and tax income OUT OF NOTHING. This is why i dont pay for anything I can get for free, it is just common sense.

And I am not the only one: I know bunch of top producers and almost all of them uses cracked/illegal software more or less. And 90% of you readers, amateur or pro producers and djs, i know, you know, everyone knows, you download mp3s and use cracked software. I do it, you do it, everyone is doin it. But go ahead, be hypocritical and bash me. I dont care.

Not surprising and I am sure this goes on all the time. The only way to stop it is if the labels would ask you to provide some type of validation that you legitimately purchased your software upon signing your tracks, and I really doubt that they would go through that much trouble.

Jesus ! I can't figure out what's the angle of this troll. Is it that he's pirating software and tracks or is it that he's come up with a ing idiotic premise to troll out of?
