Reviving one of trance music's all-time classics, Slusnik Luna's 'Sun 2011' is a euphoric, respectful update of the Finnish outfit's 2000 anthem.
Signed when the Slusnik Luna boys passed it on to fellow Finn Paavo from Above & Beyond, 'Sun 2011' modernises the groove before taking us back to those classics days with the original's, bubbling bleep-melodies and classic power chords. A cheeky breakbeat shuffle and snippets of female vocals then add some extra funk, as the track rolls into a funky trance groove with the power chords taking centre stage. An instant anthem, 'Sun 2011' to bring the track's unique magic to a new generation as well as bringing back the memories for those first time round._
For the remix, Slusnik Luna turn to a Dutch trance innovator whose career stretches as far back as this track - 4 Strings. Already a tried and trusted fan's favourite at in recent Above & Beyond DJ sets, 4 Strings' remix again keeps things respectful to the original but adds a cascading synth riff that slowly rises to epic proportions in the breakdown._
Also included is the shorter 'Radio Edit' for radio play and maximum dancefloor efficiency, while a second package with remixes from Joonas Hahmo, Genix, Heikki L, J. Shore and Orion, and the original Sun from 2000, will be released later.
Well, wasn't prepared for this to be released on Anjuna.
Haven't heard the new mixes but don't think it could live up to the original.

Don't like the looks of this, original was good though. 4 Strings does not sound like the same. I've been out of the game for a while but they don't have the defining sound anymore. Whatever.
kadomony
maybe its just that i dont listen to much trance anymore, but i really like this. brings back the old finnish sound i love. stuff that Electric Sauna used to release.

Seriously? No. The punchiness of the original will never ever be replicated, it's a special track and I really don't see any need for a new remix apart from a label trying to milk a cash cow. Stop it, now.

There's definitely a purpose for the original 2011 remix, which is basically just the original mix but with slower tempo. So now deejays playing slower sets can finally include this beauty to their sets.

It's a punchy track that I don't think needs to be played too slow though, although I'd just pitch the original down if I wanted to. Seems another excuse to milk an old idea for new money.

Honestly i don't think most people even knew about this track, especially those who are into anjunabeats

NO, just no! This is completely unnecessary and not good in any way. The original is absolutely ing brilliant. I've loved it since the first time I heard it on radio years ago and I still do. Slusnik Luna chaps should focus their energy on making new quality productions instead of doing stupid 2011 refreshes. Most of the stuff Nicklas Renqvist was involved with back in the day was just mindblowing IMO:
Slusnik Luna - Sun
Slusnik Luna - Sinner
Pepper Sweeney - H4U (Slusnik Luna Remix)
Orkidea - Unity
Leama - Labrynth (Orkidea Remix)
Moovon - Rising (DJ Orkidea's Higher Spirit Mix)
DJ Tiësto - Flight 643 (Orkidea's Wintergalactic Mix)
Bomfunk MC's - Rocking (Just To Make Ya Move) (DJ Orkidea's 160719942330 Remix)
I'd like to hear more stuff of equal quality and some rehash like this.

which is a crying shame but c'est la vie. I just don't want to hear stuff I love in 'new' remixes because too many of them are abysmal.

Was never really a fan of the original, don't see what made it "special" compared to the hundreds of very similar tracks.
