| You don't fully understand what it is to love a dog until you have to pickup its hot steamy with your hands. |

Chihuahua/Min-Pin. Sweetest dog in the world. Hard to teach anything to after her turned 2. He isn;t like any other chihuahua i've ever seen, but still has some of the stupid characteristics

And my purebred Miniature Pincher (smart, but so dumb too!) She will watch me show my other dog a trick twice, then you can turn and tell her to do the trick. BUT, she has an obsession with lights that reflect on the walls, she knows they are just lights, but she loves chasing them. So ing stupid!!!
So there, make fun of my dogs... They are both only about 5 pounds. My wife was babysitting the black one (Tequila) for my mom when he was a puppy, and we never gave him back. He was always lonely since we work. So my mom got us another dog (Kahlua).
My wife managed a dog store for years, so i've seen many variations of every breed. Any dog can be trained well. It's not anyone place to talk on another persons dog choice. They way they raise it is fine to talk on..

| So I just called the corgi lady, she's got a litter due at the end of April and I'm going to send her my deposit. I can't wait! |

Are they purebred Corgis? I'd try to stay away from that if possible. Those tend to develop more health problems than non-purebreds.
My parents had two Kerry Blue Terriers, both purebred, that were both $1,000+, and both of them developed cancer and had to be put to sleep. Also, a lot of times if you search online for the breed that you want, you can find shelters where they only cary that specific type of dog, so you'd still get the moral satisfaction of getting a rescued dog :tongue2
I got my dog at the local humane society, and it actually is a nice feeling knowing that you're basically giving the dog a second chance instead of getting them directly from a pet store or breeder. |

That's what I've been trying to do as well. It's a bit difficult to find rescue shelters for more some of the more desirable(?) types of dogs. I.e. a welsh corgi, who would give up a corgi for adoption?! :p |

I will take good care of it and get it checked bi-annually. I highly doubt all purebred corgis get cancer and die quickly, although I am aware it is a problem.

I want to raise the dog from being a puppy to its old age. As much as I would like to help out a disadvantaged dog, I have already done that, and it was a wonderful experience, but I want to have the dog for a long time. |

The shelter I went to had puppies as well. There's always people putting dogs up for adoption for whatever reason (new baby, family move, etc.) I don't understand this problem though, as I'd rather put the child up for adoption than the dog :p
The Husky I got from the shelter was 10 months old when I got her, so she was still basically a puppy. They just charge a little more for the pups. |
