I use loops but I chopped them up and add fx to them and make them my own.

Sure it does. If it's royalty free and you've done something to slot it into a track, I see no problems.

People need to get off their high horses and just produce music already, myself included.

track is called Knas, he sampled the main riff/bassline from a loop, didn't even change it at all.

so it seems like some ppl use loops for percs but not so much for melodies etc..

IMHO i kinda get the feeling your cheating if you were to use loops for EVERYTHING... but i guess its each to their own... i dunno im confused. i might just stick with what im doing now. haha
JEO
I wouldn't use loops.

If you chop and screw with the loop enough, and actually make it an art of it's own, I think it's all good (and I assume we're talking Vengeance kind of loops here, not the amen break..).

But actually using a loop of laziness and to skip for example your drum-programming is a no no for me. It's a part of what you're supposed to be doing as an artist, producer, etc.

edit. Who was the guy who mangled with the same Vengeance loop Knas is? He actually made it into a decent track.

im using more and more samples and presets, and less and less making my own. this is because i found myself doing the same thing when i make them myself, so my tracks turned out exactly the same. i dont want that. recycling others materials make it sound more original, believe it or not. and its a tribute to others work too :)
JEO
Sampling is not necessarily using loops.
Senator Clay Davis
true, im not using loops without doing anything with them.
