| anyone down on this move is not a real knick fan! no one with a clue actually thinks the knicks become automatic championship contenders with this trade, but it's the next step to relevance! AND WE KEPT FIELDS! |

i initially thought the knicks were giving up way too much during the talk before the trade actually happened. the starting five now is better than the one before the all star break. amar'e has scoring help and will not have to carry the burden of scoring when everyone else on the team is cold (which is what happened over the last few weeks). billups is an upgrade over felton -- i don't care how good felton looked but you could sort of see the signs of his being worn down (niggling injuries, scoring and shooting down). carmelo is an obvious upgrade over chandler, center was a non-factor for much of the first half of the season, gallo admitted at one point he doesn't have what it takes to be a superstar, and landry can concentrate on the hustle plays and not have to worry about shooting as much. i think the corey brewer trade with minnesota was a nice touch. who knows, if walsh had asked for kevin love, kahn might have been stupid enough to give him to the knicks.
even with these changes, the knicks are in no way the third best team in the east. maybe with additional upgrades, then yes. i hope dolan is smart enough to give an extension to walsh to see this through.
i was kinda hoping that d'antoni would have a (GOOD) assistant who would concentrate on defense. lawrence frank was available for this and he ended up replace tom thibodeau in boston when thib left for the chicago job. the knicks are a pleasure to watch, but it'd also be nice to see a consistent defensive effort instead of a 2 minute stretch where the knicks get 4 blocks.
knicks will probably have not much cap room in 2012 (and with a new CBA coming along soon), so getting deron/paul/dwight will probably be a bit difficult. chris paul, though, is sounding more and more prophetic since melo's wedding. |

Knicks are better now than they were yesterday, but they are not beating Cs or Heat in 7 games. |

how much you want to bet all you haters will be on the knicks bandwagon next year when CP3 comes to compliment Billups.
And who the cares he's a 35 yr old PG, when the pick and roll starts digging you a new just don't sleep on Chauncey when he rolls for the kick out and break you from behind the arc.
I'm saying it now...if you hating on the knicks either you from Jersey or you'll be riding the bandwagon next year. |

| it's not about hating, but have to temper expectations too. and if isiah was behind this... well we know how that went the first time with the knicks. |

I don't even like NBA basketball and I still think the trade is stupid. This trend of buying up huge name players (a la Miami Heat) is not going to last after the new CBA. The Knicks won't get Chris Paul, and even if they did, have you ever seen a team function with 2 superstar point guards, 1 superstar shooting guard/small forward, and 1 superstar forward on the floor at the same time? Either A) They'll rarely (if ever) be on the floor at the same time, B) They'll never be on the floor at the same time because they'll never be on the same team, or C) They'll all be together on the floor at the same time, and it just won't work. That's why you never saw a Bulls or Lakers team with John Stockton, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson all on the same team. You can't have 4 superstar personalities on the floor at the same time. Believe me, it wouldn't work.
Buying up superstar talent does not necessarily make a super team. Just ask the Yankees for like the 10 years prior to their last WS. They bought up all the big name free-agents, but there was no team chemistry and they failed miserably. |

I think that was more than a light-hearted stab at the big three in Miami than any kind of prophecy. |

| I doubt the Knicks will be able to get CP3 after the new CBA, unless they manage to trade Billups for him because CP3 tells NO he won't resign with them. But if you get CP3 somehow, then that is a good deal, the Melo deal will still suck dick for ya'll. |

quit being so bitter that he came to NY instead of NJ
yall can suck a dick cuz the garden is rocking once again and it's been a long ing time since we packed that place out for basketball, as a fan that turned the channel to being glued I'm certainly very happy with the decision and now that it's final everyones out talking about how much of a ed up trade it was?
i get it, there's some out there who love it and some out there who hate it, it's been a damn long time since I could watch a knicks game with my family and all sit there with the expectation that they need to go rebound when any shot was taken. Now that we're on the move on the up and up, yall hating. Hows that hater wagon feel?
