I'm surprised there isn't a roll call for this.
Anyone going? I'm at 75% at the moment, but it's getting higher by the minute... lol

Man,

what can I say, except for the third time in as many years, JIMPSTER destroyed FW. This was actually a really interesting evening. It started off a little slow due to weird coincidences:

1. He was playing in Montreal the night before and a load of Torontonians jumped on a train for that. Pretty cool actually.

2. Snow. LOL....what do you expect when we live in Toronto. I picked him up at the airport at around 6:30pm and the snow just got stronger all the drive back into the city.

3. UFC.... you UFC! LOL! Who knew the popularity of this sport would have such an effect on EDM events in Toronto. But man, it made for a late crowd on Saturday that's for sure.

Hmmm.....so Dale opened up FW in style that's for sure. And the place did start to fill in a little more as he got his groove going. Thanks for the hard work Dale. Much appreciated. Also HUGE props to the Bounce crew for picking up Jimpster at the hotel and bringing him over. An epic entrance into FW by some local buddies. Just awesome.

I personally loved the cameo from Bounce on this evening as well, as they took over the mic to introduce Jimpster at about 1am. Hilarious as the masetrminds of Mike Gleeson and Justin Riva are always working behind the scenes. I'm not usually a fan of the mic thing, but they timed it so well, I just laughed out loud for a few minutes. The crowd loved it too. At this point, the place was feeling really warm and groovy.

Jimpster's track selection is always so unique. Somehow he can make an uber trippy downtempo house groove get people screaming and with hands in the air. I think the track I remeber the most as doing this was Jamie Woon's "NIGHT AIR" (Solomun Edit). Man, what an amazing song, but you certainly would not picture it being dropped to a jamming crowd at 2:30am.

FW was still filling past 3am, which made me think that UFC partiers and bar-hoppers were on the move. Fantastic IMO. It was at that point that Jimpster gave away a nice treat to a partier: signed copy of his Alsace & Lorraine EP from late 2010. ...what a guy. So happy to be playing and jamming with Toronto. Considering I was getting close to being out of steam, man, he just kept building his energy to a peak at around 4:30am. I personally thought that having Jimpster play a four-hour closing set was the best move we've ever made at his events. I think everyone appreciated the groove he kept going for so long.

MOST MEMORABLE PARTY MOMENTS:

1. Justin Riva's microphone calamities. Too much fun really.
2. The drop of Jamie Woon's "NIGHT AIR"
3. loads of water spilled on Jimpster's CD collection ().
4. Topless hottie on the speakers at approx 4:45 am. I'm still reeling from that. LOL!!!!!

Freerange Records is celebrating their 15-year anniversary in 2011. I'm sure we'll get another chance to hear their sounds in North America before the close of the year ;)

Thanks to everyone who participated and supported.
Cheers,
irgz
