Hey guys - Heather and I thought that it might be a good idea to take a little break from working on our album and post something, so we threw together a cover an old Bananarama tune. Yeah, we know it's cheesy, that's why we did it. It was just for fun, now back to the slaving away on the album. ;)
nice groove, happy disco vibe in there. IMO, I would put a deeper kick to work better with the cymbals. I would also use some more reverb and subtle stdelay in the vocals, a bit to much to the front for my taste. Just my opinion. I like the elements in the mix, no that much the actual mix.
Good work bro, keep up the good production!
cheers.

Great fun track Dave.
Really enjoy your mixing and the vocals are recorded with panache.
I would prefer a little wetter vocal and for sure it would benefit from a better snare:toothless

Hey thanks, guys! I think you're right about the vocals - there is both delay and reverb on them, but they are a little too up front. I actually wanted them a little more in-your-face, but it's a tough balance to find, especially when you consider that most parts (including the harmonies) are triple-tracked, so adding a little more reverb/delay can get muddy pretty quickly. But, I'll give them another look as I finalize this and move on to the next. Thanks for listening!

Too much hiss on the vocals(at least on my headphone), mix sounds a little too smashed, just my 2 cents
Sounds like it was real fun to make

Nice update on it!
Sounds like it was a bit of fun too.

I like it. Love the synth solo. On first listen, I heard a little sibilance on the vox but it's really not offensive. The stutter edit, at the end, is cool, too.

Thanks guys. Yes, there is still some sibilance on the vocals, and it's annoying me as well. Actually there was a LOT of sibilance, most of which I've already de-essed. I definitely won't be using that mic (GrooveTubes GT66) on Heather's voice again, especially not if the song has 22 layers of vocal tracks! And, yeah, I agree with sako that the mix is squashed too much. I'll be addressing those issues and making the final changes later this week.
But, yeah, this was a fun track to make. :)

Hi Dave, long time man, I though that you quit/stop producing music lol lol lol - I was just worry that we lost a great musical mind for ?????? (family, job, girls or something else lol lol).
Going back to your track ---> sweet idea and really solid starting point for some great sounding track, has a lot of cool elements to be potentially brilliant remix (from something I really like years ago lol - I'm getting old man). You got yourself impressive and great driving bass line, nice synth arrangement and perfect vocal to work with and with some addition of arp and some more FX or modulation on this sweet vocal, you can definitely lift this track to a different level my friend.
Some FX on this vocal may include --> end of phrase could be mixed with a lot of reverb and some ping-point treatment in some specific locations - my $0.02. Sound like a great and funny project.
Nice to hear something from You man.

i had to put on my headphones for this, there is someone living with me and i have to keep credibility, you know how it is lol..
ok fun track, i cant comment musically or even mix wise really but, all your transients are hitting clearly, but there is a sense of empowerment in the mix at the same time. Like sako said, but dont take our word for it, personally i would start again with the faders being conservative but... its totally your call, keep pushing those boundaries i know i will! :)

that was what i was thinking as well...the vocals could use a bit more fx on them..the kick does feel a lil thin as someone already mentioned earlier .. but this is a great start.. the arrangement and composition..sonds used are all nice..but the mix itself was lacking a bit imo , a better mix-down..some more fx on them vocal's .. and maybe a slightly fatter snare ? good work over all though..defo a fun track.

Thanks again for the listens/comments, guys. I just posted the final version and I'm calling this one good. As I mentioned, it was mostly just a little side-project that we did for fun and I've already spent more time (about 10 hours) on it than I was planning. Anyway, I took some of the comments regarding the mix into account, added a *little* more reverb/delay (but not much, I don't like the de facto "bathed-in-reverb" trance vocals for this particular song). And, I like the kick and snare, so they stay and I make no apologies for that. :p
Oh, and thanks for even listening to something this cheezy. I hope you cleared your cache after that, MSZ. :D Don't worry, I made it downloadable because I know you guys are going to secretly put it on your iPods and listen to it when no one is around. ;)
