i have felt this way a lot. leaving parties after like an hour or two because nothing is impressing me. my advice to you is find better or different kind of parties. You know what kind of music you like so find a party that accommodates that. go to one party a month and do other things instead.

Only go out when you really WANT to go out, not just because you have nothing else to do.

Nobody ever outgrows live music, whether it's concerts or DJs, but sometimes it becomes too much of a good thing. Take a few weekends off and go to Six Flags or a sporting event or something, and then come back to party for a DJ you REALLY want to see.

Go see laidback luke and SHM even more at the same douchey venues

Burnout for sure.

I don't go out as often anymore as I used to. Now when I do go out and I'm not DJ'ing, I mostly go to concerts. But, last month I went out to the Santa Ana Art Walk for the first time and I really liked it. That was something different for me and it def got me interested in something new.

At one point I got burnt out form DJ'ing every weekend that I took a month off. When I went back to my residency I started taking bigger risks started mixing in some underground EDM at my very commercial club. lol The crowd slowly started liking it that they request it now. Now, that got me interested again.

I guess moral of the story is, change it up a bit. It's now become a routine.

as long as im into the music i dont see it getting too boring since i'll at least be interested in the music.

at markus/sutra last week at around 1 i did get really tired(went to the gym right before going to the event), so partly my fault.

it does drag a bit when your tired but since i still like the music i don't think i'll get bored.

but yea, change it up a bit..recharge your batteries for the summer.

I suggest some shots of either tequila or vodka! Should be able to help you get back into things!

been feeling that way lately too....and no matter how many shots, eventually, that bored feeling comes back...must be the age thing

Ya that's why I mentioned that, I did notice when a party started to drag all I needed to do was drink a little to have a better time lol

I just hate resorting to that haha

could it be cause you go out too often and you see the same guys(for the most part) each time?? maybe take a break from going out every weekend. going out too often, you get burnt on the scene.

I for one am glad I dont go out every weekend, it makes me appreciate the time and the fun we have when we do go out. I am glad I have a family but sometimes I need a break. I guess I'm the opposite you of. ;)

As far as seeing the same guys, I really don't. I do however go out a lot and see many different acts. I mean sometimes I have partied hard 3 times a week, so I guess ya it is getting repetitive. And the more I think about it, the more I feel that that is what is prolly doing it for me.

Maybe you should start messing with "the other stuff" ;)

Just a suggestion, but I see what you're getting at.

Nah, I have always been to afraid to mess with that . Because in reality I have always liked the music and never felt the need to alter my mind more to enjoy it more. I know it helps, but I just know I will like it to much so I never once messed with anything else.

Do you have a girl? I know when I started taking my wife out it got more interesting. Then i started to invite my bro and his wife and it got better. It made the night more interesting to see new people I knew react to the scene, so in turn it got me back in. There are friends/family and then there are club friends. But yeah, I get bored at times too. I go out about once a month now or longer.

Take a break. Start a new weekend project with a car in your garage. Have some kids, that will keep you occupied. Work out, if you don't already, gain some muscle, then you can have an incentive to show up back to the club. good luck.

I have a girl I have been talking to on and off for a while now, but unfortunately she doesn't like EDM. I do notice I have way more fun with friends there, but even with friends there one of the times I got bored I was surrounded by friends and I was with a girl that I took. And I sometimes hate taking girls because I am usually there for a little bit because I want to leave and go back to her house or the hotel etc etc. I could see this being different with someone stable though.

As far as taking a break I have been cutting down to once a weekend lol I feel like I need to slow down even more. I have several car projects (EVO 9, Fastback Mustang) and I do wrench on cars a lot, so as far as being occupied I always am outside of EDM.

im in the same boat, started in the mid 90's rave scene...but now, i just go out to an edm event maybe once a month...and i switch it up...from a downtown techno party to a undergound house event to a night at avalon to a massive festival, etc...

i think thats the cool thing about LA, we have so many edm options.

so my answer, stop being a snob and switch it up.

I do switch it up, but as stated I go out a lot. From underground techno parties to DnB/dubstep house parties to tech house after-hours to the more mainstream massive and parties. So i know switching it up isnt a big issue...I guess its the constant going out that is making it repetitive.

take a break. make it special again. thats what i did i spent way too much time and money and i was out every single weekend somtimes 4-5 times a week.

it lost its spark hehehe

then i took like 4 months off and im starting to get back into it again and its got its excitement again.

in all seriousness your tastes might be changing so maybe you should try some other genres....(i havent even taken that advice yet bc im too much of a trance brat hahaha)

ahhh and also- by breaking abit you can save some money and do things better when you do go out...ie...i go out less and now refuse to go out unless its a full on VIP night which really makes me look forward to the event

Thanks for the advice, but I know I can't go 4 months with out going out lol And my taste has changed, in that I like more types of EDM I have always been open minded with that. Just for some reason I can't get into most trance...

Ya I guess it's just being more selective when I go out. And slowing down a bit. And going only to parties that I REALLY want to go to.

I have actually never thought of this. I know for a fact one of the times I remember getting bored it was a long day and I was tired. I feel like this is an even bigger factor then going out a lot, but it's probably a combo of the two...

I think people get burned out on the venues as much as they do the music sometimes. Or a combo thereof. Usually you have to go to the same select venues repeatedly to hear the acts you want.

We are getting old my friend. I went out in the freezing cold last Saturday just to go out. I think I rather have just chilled on my couch.

Problem is many times we party because a particular DJ is in town. You'll have a better time partying if you have a reason to party. Making some $ on a deal, your birthday/a good friends birthday.

The people you are with make a difference as well. My best friends like to hang around in the patio smoking cigs, so they aren't the funnest party people but they are my good friends so I go out with them at times.

Think about how much fun you would have if you ONLY partied out of town like Vegas, Miami and Ibiza.

In sum, we are getting old. Might have to start thinking about getting married and seeing what your kids look like. (aka 2nd half of life...[bbm can't watch face])

go to quality parties, problem solved. i find myself skipping out on big names and venues for a small undergrounds with locals.
