I just wanted to see how many of you guys work in a office and if you currently are or have experienced people dicking around all day playing solitaire when they should be working. This guy I work with plays games half the day and I have even went as far as trying to delete them from his computer but he keeps finding ways to get them back :whip: It really pisses me off because my manager doesnt care enough to say anything but I dont want to be a and tell on him. What would you do?

I don't see people playing games but I do see people on facebook, twitter, TA, etc.

Sounds like you waste a lot of your day worrying about what other people in your office are doing.

Did you tell the teacher when Timmy was eating paste in art class, too?

^^^^

You wasting as much time worrying about him as he spends on games..

Mind your own business...

But I see your point a bit..

I hate that I work harder than others and they still get paid...

Wow eh? Playing both sides I am...

You should just work twice as hard so you can become manager, then you can not care enough to say anything!

What kind of work do you do?

Do you have deadlines for large pieces of work? Do you have hourly quotas of things you have to complete?

Maybe he can get his work done in half the tame... I would say that management likely knows what he is doing.

As already stated.. stop worrying what others around you are doing unless it is directly affecting your work.

Yeah thats the thing... I am doing more work because this guy pretends hes busy but I whenever I pass by his computer hes playing games. I am not completely focused on him but sometimes its tough to ignore something that is in plain sight.

when you end up doing his work as a result it becomes a problem. Some office environments are shared tasks. You should try to find a way to set it up so that he gets discovered by management without your obvious involvement.

If it has no bearing on your work then i agree with the others. Leave it alone.

Thats the way I would go about it as well. Try to segregate tasks so that he has more accountability for his or set up a failure where you can say "I did X amount and game player over there did half that, so I'd ask him why this wasn't a success."

If it doesn't affect you then brush it off. Can't police people unless it's your job and you have more to lose than gain from doing so.

replace the executable file for the game with a virus exe.

if it doesn't immediately affect your job or your perfomance then get a life and get busy with your own tasks
we have a lady like that at work who does exactly same thing - she's aware how late everyone comes in and comments on it, what everyone wears and they shouldn't be wearing this or that, how often people are making personal phone calls and browsing non-work related websites
it's ridiculous!
