This thread was a better read than most news and/or blog postings I've read lately.

Not too keen on D&B, but I'm also sick of most everything right now, so may as well keep trying something new. :)

Well this isn't your typical D&B mix by any means. I'm not sure if you'll like it, because it's about the trancey and atmospheric vibes which you haven't really been about for a long time. But then you always surprised me with past sets of mine that you enjoyed, so who knows. It's definitely not a sound you'll hear out and about too much.
SYSTEM-J
It's digitally mixed, all from 320kbs or VBR MP3. I'm not sure any of these tracks were released in a physical format, except the Mav & Implex one.

Thanks for the praise. It means more coming from someone who hates me.
SYSTEM-J
I can upload it in 320 if you want.
SYSTEM-J
Direct to MP3, but that doesn't mean I'd be "rendering up" to get it to 320. I'll upload a 320 version tomorrow, if I'm not busy. Going to bed now.

Well I gave it a listen today while getting a bit of database work done, and you were largely right. I would say I enjoyed the first half better than the tail end, but on the whole it was definitely a little heavy for my tastes. The beginning seemed very heavy on some of the more ethereal/atmospheric tunes, and the end a little bit more of the intense "D&B" in your face percussion typically associated with the genre.

Glad I gave it a shot, because it was something very different for me and I figured as I've liked a fair number of your other mixes that aren't usually my thing, this was as good a time as any. Just not really my thing I suppose.
justin
system j could you please share a link to your jackpot set that you made some time ago? Please.
SYSTEM-J
I've never made a Jackpot set. Unless you mean the old Epic House mixes, which had a lot of Jackpot in them. I did once post a Jackpot tribute mix by Eric J (of the producer section), if that's what you're referring to.

"The Epic Mix" and "Spirit of 95" still get banged out here on occasion. Particularly the latter.
justin
because you had posted it my memory mistook you for the dj. Well, I would've tried finding it on my own, but the search engine never works for me. I just got excited about a new or rather new to me vinyl that I purchased on the Jackpot label. Quite a banging tune from tenth chapter called "product".
oh, BTW there is a really good website to download oldschool dnb/jungle mix tapes called goldenerajungle.com. Check it out!

This will be what you're thinking of: http://www.marioandericj.com/dj-mix...-jackpot-series

Product was originally released on Guerilla around '93, but when Guerilla folded Jackpot bought up their back catalogue around 1997 and commissioned a lot of new (and mostly excellent) remixes. I'm guessing the vinyl you've got has the Paul Van Dyk and Carl Cox remix on it.
justin
I managed to find a sampler with the Paul de Aragon rmx of Product for fifty cents... say that Eric J mix has a striking resemblence to this jackpot compilation by Danny Howells
