Promoting Music.

So, let me get this straight. A "regular" can promote their own music on here, but if a newbie comes, that person gets either a) slagged and/or made fun of or b) thread gets deleted - More than likely, both happen.
I don't really care to tell you the truth if anyone promotes their on here, but c'mon, the regulars on this board need to be more consistent with the rules and guidelines. It's either you're allowed to do it, or you're not.
I don't care how much a person contributes on here, that should give them more of a reason to follow the rules. Lead by example.
Be fair, and be consistent people. That is all. |

although I agree with you....I think some leniency can be given to those who participate in forum discussions on a regular basis over an extended period of time.

If a noob does it, it could be considered spam. What do I care if housemusiclover1234 has made a new track/mix? I've never heard of them before and may never hear from them again, which is usually the case (from what I've seen).
A regular has earned the right to promote their music since they are an active member that contributes to the forum on a regular basis, and have many fans that care more than someone who nobody knows. |

Good point. |

| There are several forums specifically for promotion. Use 'em... unless, of course, you are doing something super special. New track/mix/album? Probably not as special as you think it is. |

Although I think regularity of posting is a factor, another is how 'in' that said person is with the rest of the board members, since many people on here know each other outside of the board.
It's not about jealousy, it's about not being a hypocrite when it comes to these things and being fair. Unfortunately like the real world, often it's about who you know more often than how good your skills are that give you that extra edge, even though there may be some other shmuck who has better skills but just isn't part of the cool club so therefore doesn't get a chance to be heard. |
