Countries by DAW:

Americans got ProTools and Cakewalk
Germans got Cubase and Ableton
Belgians got FL
Swedes got Reason

... btw... I like the German's approach to DAWs... I know... call me a Jew hater, but I love Cubase and Live...!!!!

I should change my sig's colors to red, white, and blue. :)

Oh, and I'm glad that we build DAWs better than we build cars.

This is truth.

Unfortunately that statement says a lot about cars and little about the DAW's.

I was looking for this thread earlier...I just upgraded to 9, but I really did it for OMF capabilities for post-production. Haven't really messed with anything else besides, but it is nice to not have to lug around my interface, just an iLok. Hopefully I don't lose it though!

Yes, bumping this thread, I'm switching to pro tools for home use now.

Interested to hear who is using Pro tools 9 or 10 native, and what your thoughts are etc, specifically relating to EDM?

I got ProTools last year as an x-mas present and really didn't care much for it. To have to have a third party piece of software just to run vst's didn't make sense. If I wasn't an Ableton user I'd use Reason over ProTools anyday.

I have no idea what you're talking about. What do you mean 3rd party to run vst's?

You know you can get nearly every synth and plugin in RTAS format right?

I had no idea dude.. I guess I should've read the manual.. I thought I needed FXpansion in order to do so..

lots of plugins don't so it is a common tool.

I honestly can't keep up with all their recent changes. IT just seems like a mess to me. And have they even rolled out a 64 bit version yet ? I know they acquired and fired the sibelius team so a little worried about that app. AAX isn't support by waves. I don't even know what aax is. TDM RTAS .... Pro Tools is just confusing at this point.
