I like the percussion, the break strings and arrangement is very nice. At 3.26 the synth sounds a bit to harsh. I think you got all the elements to go for a mix with fresh ears. You got many instruments in that track, so you gona have to eq and work a lot with the levels so that in not sound cluttered.
really liked the tune man!
ah, and I would prefer a more progressive intro, the fade in does not stand with the track imo. |

Yucky progression change at 0:53. Sounds discordant and fits awkwardly. Also the arp synth that comes in around 3 minutes in is way too thin and it's sizzling my ears.
It could definitely be cleaned up as well, but you seem to be aware of that.
There are some issues but I do like the track! I agree with Mise about the intro too by the way. |

Thanks for the feedback.
I don't really understand what's wrong at 0:53. I know it's not the typical Major or minor chord that you might normally hear but a diminished chord to draw out tension, but I think it sounds pretty good. But I'll take that into consideration.
I skipped about 1min30sec of the beginning, but it is pretty progressive in the beginning. I like to tease people with some progressive sounds before blowing out to have some sort of melodic depth instead of 2 or 3 chords.
I've taken your suggestions and it's sounding a lot better now. Thanks. Gonna give it a few more days and then finalize things. Really appreciate it.
Cheers. |

yea I understand you want to introduce the listener with a more full sound at the begging before the mini drop and progression, I would add a subtle effect in that case for the opening to compensate the abrupt fade in. For me the chord progression is fine, I like it, reading again my prior post it may sound harsh, but it isn't really. I tend to go directly to the spots in the tune I would personally change. Just to give the producer another point of view, thats all, a lot of people here got potential imo and I kinda feel that because we made some critics they get disappointed. Keep in mind that we are always in the critic side, and a tune that gets bashed here may sell great in the market!
my 2 cents. |

Thanks Mise,
I wasn't at all disappointed at your comments, and I guess text can be hard to convey intentions and feelings.
What I meant was that I removed the first 1 min 30 sec of the track and did a fade-in since labels don't like if full versions of a track have been available for everyone. What you sorta hear is the track about 1 min 30 sec into it already. The full track is like 10 min long.
I appreciate all criticisms really. :)
I've re-updated a newer version. Gonna wait probably 2 more days to take a crack at it again.
Cheers. |

Ah yes I dint keep in mind that, sometimes they dont even want you to upload it at all. I guess they can be afraid someone can download or steal your work.
Sounding great, deep and smooth! |

I'm not so much a fan of it musically (too unconventional for my taste, so not necessarily a bad thing) but technically you've pretty much got it down. My only big concern is that the bass range is too loud. I'm not sure what you're monitoring on but start out listening at a low volume and noticing what you hear first. Try to get the right balance at that level and then bring the volume up and it should sound spot on. This isn't something that should be taken care of in the mastering so turn any bass-heavy instruments down and any treble instruments up, or be sure to cut any bass and lower mid range as necessary.
I quickly read over your comments about teasing people with progressive and then breaking melodically - to be honest I liked the beginning better, but I'm sure that's a matter of taste. :) |

Cheers Atlantis. Took your advice and now I feel like I got the mix down pretty much the way I wanted it.
I'm monitoring on a pair of KRK VXT6's... I'm still getting used to them after switching over from M-audio's which are a huge improvement so I'm slowly working the speakers into my head. |

The start is absolutely astounding. There's still some room left for improvement to my ears, particularly in the lower/bass upper bass level (the extra upper bass sounds slightly wooly, while the lower is bass is lacking slightly, but this is something I would see fixed in the mastering). The ending will also need some work to sound proper. I take it you've normalised it to hit 0.0 dB? If you're keen to have me master it, I'd be more than interested - run it through some sweetening EQ and compression to polish the mix. Will be a quality track I'm sure...
What's the bass response like on VXT6's? Your latest mix is pretty close to getting a balanced mixdown, with some slight exceptions, but keep this up! |
