As much as you get jaded about trance, DJs like Max Graham come along and rekindle your love of trance once more. (and he's freaking hilarious)

more when I get some sleep

Great night! Simply unreal to hear trance of this caliber in a hole like waterloo. (i dont listen to much trance anymore but i know good stuff when I hear it).

Having said that, great venue too, it took me nearly 4 hours to break a sweat (government takes 5 minutes with their lousy A/C), no kids so everyone who was there was there for the right reasons, GREAT staff!! and.. they have a liquor license, lol.

Anyway, awesome opening night for The Embassy, I'm looking forward to more proper dance music in Waterloo.

:D Glad he delivered. Sad I never made it.

Will deliver a proper review once I get some coffee and find some pants. In a nutshell: Coming last minute was the best decision I've made all month.

Good times!

Got there early with some friends, enjoyed being able to buy a drink, since my last few outings have been at clubs without liquor licenses (not naming names);)

The Venue: Very sweet. It did a bang on job of making you feel like you're in Toronto or a bigger city. Decor is well done. Bar staff are courteous and friendly. Beer selection is good. Drinking Waterloo dark in a bar is a novelty and a half.

The sound is well done although there are a few deadspots closer to the front that could probably be tweaked over time.

The only problem I had was that consistently through the night, the bar staff were clearing bottles off the tables, and would then proceed to carry a full tray of bottles/glasses through the bouncing dance floor. This was a disaster waiting to happen. Walking around the dance floor should be common sense.

The 'choons:
Really enjoyed Tim's set. Some steady chuggy techno and tech-house did a good job of setting the mood.

Max Graham killed it as always. Had the opportunity to chat with him briefly and can say he is one of the most down to earth legit DJ's I have met.

His set was a good set of bangers and no overly long breakdowns that had me yawning like most prog trance/trance does.

Overall a good night and a good grand opening. Ill be there again.

The Embassy is a pretty classy looking bar. Decors are well done. Lots of space. The staff are friendly, and smoking hot. (esp the bottle service lady) Excellent selection of beer. Only place I know of in KW are that carries Sam Adams on tap. (One of few major American beers that I like) And Kroenebourg Blanc which was a pleasure to try out. (light coloured beer with fruity taste. kinda like hoergaarden but more citrusy)
I would have liked to see two more speakers to to give more oomph to the sound. Some tweaks can be made, but overall I liked the setup at the Embassy.

I'm a member of Tim Penner fan club, but as usual, Tim is one of most technically proficient DJs out there, as well as becoming an excellent producer.

Max Graham does what Max Graham does best, and I don't think I've ever had a bad night when Max is playing. Well paced set with some hard stuff, some fluff. The new Arty remix of Punk is pretty entertaining. Even got me to sing along to some new remix of 'No One on Earth' (if you know of my hatred of cheezy vocals...)

Not to mention he's hilarious, willing to pull some hijinx if you are not careful lol. It's always nice to see a DJ who loves the music and you can on his face.

There are people out there that says trance should be played at big rooms only, but I think small venues can also bring the best out of a trance DJ, esp since only people who really like the DJ will show up for these gigs for most part.

I can't say no to $10 cover to see Max Graham in my hometown.

TIM'S OPENING SET KICKED ASS.

Thank everybody for the birthday wishes and all that. What an amazing night. Somehow we ended up with a limousine back to Cambridge... No idea.

Holy I had such a great time there. Embassy is AMAZING..

So sad that I missed this. Got 3/4 of the way to the club and realized that I had left my ID in the pocket of my previous set of pants, which were sitting at my Mom's place an hour away. ITY SHIGGITY PISS ASS ITY .
