I honestly think that a lot of it is down to how much Armin has insanely pushed him through ASOT in the past few years. Armin coming out with statements like he's done tonight, and last year "2010 is the year of Gareth Emery" etc. etc. and the majority of ASOT listeners believe everything he'll say, so Emery will mop up a lot of number 2 votes in DJ Mag behind Armin.

Add in that they share the same booking agent to ensure that he gets booked at the biggest events (and a great deal of these with Armin on the same bill).

Technically he's a very good DJ (in terms of no mistakes during transitions), but set building is awful and relies so much on vocals and classics to get a rise out of the fans.

aye sadly armin has a lot to answer for for really pushing Emery. Also think the commercial vocal stuff the Americans love as you can hear at this point of his set.

Couple of years ago he warmed a lot for armin and that suited him i thought. But as a headline dj at peak time his style just doesn't work at all.

Can't believe armin called him a legend

Case in point - using As the Rush Comes mashed up with Exposure.

quite liked the insomnia mash up but totally agree the mash ups are to get a rise out of a commercial crowd. A proper trance crowd just won't respond to that

Oh come on people, don't say u expected Trance from this guy on such event. Everyone wants to aim to as many people on stage, not to commenting people online, and as I'm hearing from stream, crowd is really enjoying this set, they are most important.

Don't usually disagree with armin. But Emery a legend? What a steaming pile of dog e
Acuariano1951
but we are talking about money or what?

Trance scene is going down with this kind of stuff, we know it, but the market is over everything here, Armin knows it..

he's a kind of salesman for the masses...

and everybody is getting their part of this...

look the place where they are playing...

watch the money investment they need to do 5 continents tour and everything...

where the money comes from?

the fans worldwide..!

those who doesn't care too much, just to have fun!

and Armin knows it...
