i would not be too quick to favour Rogers on this either .. it'z only a matter of time before they implement bit caps as well. they are already rolling out tiered packages.
i think 3rd party/smaller DSL companies are the way to go. stick with Bell or Rogers and u'll always be hassled over bandwidth consumption. plus if more of us don't go with smaller companies they'll never be able to compete with the bigger guys which means lower quality of service !! |

yea i hav the same prob too .. i live in a DSL blackzone so everyone in my area is on Rogers and that totally bogs down the network which surpremely sucks. Apparently there are pockets around Toronto where there is no DSL access due to distance limitations with Bell Central Offices which makes them unable to offer a specific level of quality service. I've been waiting over a year and a half now and still they haven't done anything to put DSL in this area. I can't even go with a smaller DSL provider since there's no access at all!
man i'm really gonna move soon .. |

| btw way people you are not only limited to dsl providers in your town/area, you can get service from ANY dsl provider in both Ontario and Quebec!!! So the choice is rather large and if you dig you could find a gemstone of a provider. |

I have Sympatico aswell .... did 4.8 gigs in 3 days. And I thought I was taking it easy with the downloading .... gues not. DSL sucks in many ways !!! The Sympatico manager program hogs up so much memory and it makes my PC freeze for 30 sec alot of the time. |
Im getting the same ing problem. My internet allways freezes. You know whats causing it, or how I can get it to stop? |

don't use the sympatico manager (duh!).
if you have winxp use the pppoe drivers provided with xp. If you use something else, get winpoet as a dialier... I never used access manager when I had sympatico. |

I went to a computer store that I know about them ordering anything you want and just gave them the model number and the brand of the DSL modem I wanted... thats it. Payed 160$ with all taxes. Its an external modem tho... I know you could find internal ones for about a 100$ and some USB ones too for about 120$. Try avoid GVC, they'll work fine but aren't the best. |
i'm using GVC, doesnt seem to be causing me and troubles |

I have the BB0040 model and with the supplied drivers/firmware the modem seemed to freeze and I'm not the only one to report that... I downloaded the latest firmware and now it seems to work proprely. |
