Along with an alleged gang rape at the Fontainebleau and an intoxicated drowning death at the Clevelander, Ultra Weekend also brought us a scary near riot on South Beach as a drunken crowd surrounded and taunted two cops trying to arrest an unruly couple outside a Swedish House Mafia show. Videos of the arrest -- and the fist-fighting brouhaha that followed -- are popping up all over YouTube now.
The trouble started Saturday night when a Funkshion Fashion Week show headlined by the Swedish House Mafia was oversold by at least a couple thousand tickets, the Herald reports.
When a fire marshal tried to stop more people from entering a tent set up at 9th Street on the beach, the crowd went nuts and tried to storm through the barricades. Eventually, fearing officers were risking their lives, they let the crowd in.
But moments later police chased after a young woman, identified by the Herald as 25-year-old Sara Greenbeck from Maryland, who had been tossed from the show for being disruptive. That's when things really got scary.
As you can see in the video below, an outraged crowd of nearly a hundred surrounds the two cops after one throws Greenbeck to the ground. Clad in a purple dress and gold shoes, Greenbeck flashes peace signs but refuses to be handcuffed.
Three men in town for Spring Break and the festivities surrounding Miami Music Week were arrested after allegedly brutally gang raping a college student in their room at the Fontainebleau. The young woman met the men at a pool party at the Shelborne Hotel.
Paul Thorington, 22, Anthony Albano, 23, and Ray Joseph Laranjo, 23, all from California, have been charged with sexual battery following the attack.

yeah MMW was a bit of a reality check for me...i was waiting to go into UMF sunday and decided to visit the gas station accross the street for water and lotion and found a group of police chilling talking about how the E there was laced with cianide resulting in 18 deeaths and 41 (at that point) in critical condition in the hostiptal.
like. wtf.
and 11 people died last year.
I guess i should do more research bc i didnt know that

Miami is dangerous and that week should be no exception.
This year I had the most fun I have ever had in my 9 years in a row going for conference (I went both weeks this year). I saw less fights than I have ever seen and I went out more than I had ever gone out before. I think this year just got bad press because it was two weeks in total instead of one.
Either way:
-Women should not really be going too many places alone.
-Parties dont need to oversell tickets by thousands.
-People need to know their limits (referring to the drunk guy that drowned in the clevelander's pool)
-I really dont think there was cyanide in drugs, more would be heard about it unless the Miami police really are that good at cover ups. I mean look how much attention one death got at EDC last year. I think they were just putting some scares into the ravers heads for some kind of sick fun

i agree. im sure there were SOME deaths...and its "expected" and "normal" so it will not be blown out of proportion like other events. sad but true

I highly doubt those numbers. That's absolutely ridiculous.
Either way Ultra/MMW/WMC is ing awesome. By far the best week of the year in the States...possibly the world.

Oh and the SHM party was awesome. That confrontation was nothing, I've see worse in front of dive bars.

Yeah...if those numbers were true, it would be a mass murder basically, not just some kids OD'ing at Ultra. It would be all over the news...probably worldwide news.
Sounds like the cops were trying to have some fun in their own sick little way.
