He works for it though. Never misses a show, flies every day, interviews, weekly radio show etc. you have to like what you're doing otherwise you'd go crazy...
There are tons of people making more than him who don't put nearly the same effort |

Sad but true. It's not even really debatable. Especially main stream and pop music. I was looking at this "VH1 100 Greatest Artists Of All Time" list the other day and it's sad how little 2000-2010 had contributed. Granted it's a random list but it's a pretty good one in my opinion.

| Tiesto's fee last time he was in Toronto was $230,000 or so. so $20 mill isn't too far off. But as already said, a lot goes to the staff and all his other expenses |

Props to him for charging such absurd booking rates that people need to pay $100+ to see one of his shows?
And do you really think all of his commercial pop-house trash that he's been doing lately is because its something he's actually passionate about, or because he knows its whats most profitable?

If by that you mean that it was the worst decade for the advancement of and innovation in popular music, then possibly. Otherwise, nope. |

I have thought about this too. Each decade has its own specific kind of sound, except for 2010. A lot of the music produced in the last decade has been pretty superficial and forgettable. Food for thought: contrast this with the film industry from 2000-2010. Anyone else see a trend? |

the trend is cookie cutter because you cant take as many risks when most people are going to steal your product anyways.
Want to get quality back? Start buying what you like. If not its only going to get worse the more that people steal. |

Plus I really feel that we are running out of good ideas...
Look at how so many recent and future movies are remakes of older ones or film versions of old books and comics...
How many recent bands have put out groundbreaking stuff like U2 or Floyd or Zepplin etc??? |

I actually think most if not all the good ideas are already done and all we are doing is altering the fabrication of the concepts. Same with music.
Action movies for example are over and done with. No matter what you do, it always ends up to be the same.
Yes, there are some exceptions but I really dont think we'll see a whole new set of certain styles of movies. And I think that goes for the music industry to a degree. |
