Are you a friend of the avalon washers or know how they operate attendance wise? (pg. 2)

I refuse to believe there is a specific drug that only middle-aged asian people use. That just seems ridiculous. |

I prefer washers over the Meg-douchers that show up at Avalon. |
thats why we need vanguard back so the mega douches can go back |

I think it's the culture. If I remember correctly ravers in China/Taiwan/Vietnam dances like that with their head bobbing side to side. I could be wrong... |

ecstasy in vietnamese is called "thuoc lac" .. it's a direct translation to mean "drug that makes you shake"
the shaking head thing is more a socal thing.. pple dont really do the "wash cycle" when ive gone to SF or NY.. they sway back and forth but no cycling like the pictured above
they say the shaking head thing makes you roll stronger .. and with asians..if one person believes a certain thing..they start telling everybody and next thing u know everyone in the village does it |

We had washers in Atlanta, too, I just didn't know what to call them until I moved out here. Maybe they were SoCal transplants. :P |

LOL great answer! I think that's it because Ecstasy in Chinese is called "yao-tou wan" which also means "pill that makes you shake your head" |

i was at pacha in nyc a few months ago and saw a group of washers.... the washing movements were of similar style, but not exactly the same.
kind of like, we all speak english, but folks in socal have a socal accent and folks in the south have a southern accent. well, based on where you are in the country, there are various versions of the washer dance.
back to the dancemoves.
usually the guy is standing behind the woman, with woman tossing her head side to side. all this while both sets of feet are planted on the ground.
in socal, the head tossing is little more drastic and violent.
in nyc, from what i saw, the head tossing was a little more fluid, softer.... and there was alot more attention to the groin area. more action in the hips...as if you are 'grinding' (see hip hop 'backin that ass up' dance).
but both very similar in the back and forth swaying and girl in front and guy in back.
I will continue with by observations and next time i will present to you a powerpoint presentation. |
