Agreed that he didn't break any laws, but should some law be put in place to prevent this from happening again? |
I'm fairly certain that murder is already illegal everywhere. |

Do you agree that some form of punishment should be dealt to him? |
Sure, but I don't think it should be doled out by any government or authoritative organization.
shaw's point is that murder is already illegal in most every country... what the hell else can be done about it from a judiciary standpoint? Start creating more laws that prohibit people from being Internationally offended? Or from offending others? |

In fact, I am rather balked that a man from England is arguing with me over the internet. I'm going to go kill some innocent people because of how balked I am. Expect INTERPOL at your door any moment, you filthy instigator! |

You're completely failing to recognize the responsibility of the murderers.
I see your logic, and I agree that Pastor Jones is a -eater who shouldn't be allowed any publicity whatsoever, but his entire point is that Islam breeds violence... and so in indignant objection to this, a group of Islamic men storm a UN Compound and murder 7 people. WHAT?
Men should be held accountable for their actions. Pastor Jones burned a book and said some harsh words, but that is the extent of his pathetic part in this. To blatantly ignore that the murderers are responsible for pulling their triggers is to completely undermine their accountability as human beings in society, and frankly, borders on an insult to the potential of the third world to pull itself out of squalor despite its admitted fetters by first world occupation. It's as though you're saying the shooters could not possibly be held reponsible - after all, they're just stupid Tribals. |
Noone is saying they are without blame. ing shoot them in the head. They are clearly very violent, and has no place in society. But Reverend Lovejoy over there is not without blame either, and should be penalized in the same way as the murderers.
Spokespersons for Islam have repeatedly warned about burning the Qu'ran, and what the repercussions might be like. He still went ahead and burned the book.
He is responsible for the protests, and deserves punishment fitting to the damages he is responsible for. Both the material damages and to the Islam/Western relations. |

His gripes are with the religion, though. Not their ethnic group, which just so happens to be largely inextricable, but still incidental. You really want it to be illegal to criticize a religion? Especially when its members act out precisely what you accused them of in reaction to your accusations? :stongue: |

Do you actually speak English? Genuine question, because you are completely mis-interpreting me.
The ONLY point I was making is that he knew what would happen if he burnt the book, he was warned, he did it anyway, and people died as an indirect result of his actions. And I for one would not like to see this happen again (would you?). Thats it. Thats my point. Nothing else.
You can read into it what you want, but there really is nothing more to my comment. |
