for the record, i think most of you are trippin
most cd compilations these days, if not all (and even alot of radio shows), use multiband compression to keep the same balance/tone throughout the mix. as we all know different tracks have different levels of bass/mid/treb as well as levels of volume and compression, so you ever notice how in compilations things flow smoothly as regards to the balance and tone? Ever try playing or even mixing two of the tracks one after another? It usually doesnt sound even nearly the same. |
I Thinks that's Answer My Qu
that's means that i need to use multiband compression on the entire exported (1 File) mix? (practical for my home uses but still want to hear better) |

| we all know that in the radioshows they put a compressor and a limiter , and you see that the dynamics are squashed, first of all don't try doing that without knowing how to do it and secondly your mix will sound very smooth, the tracks like and what makes a good compilation a good compilation is not the flawless mix, but the tracks, just see the ISOS previously commented. |

that the reason i asked people here
But for the guy that told me to put a limter... isn't a compressor?
I mean, theres other tool that can i put on the entire mix without changeing the dynamics ??? that's what i'm looking for!! |
A limiter is more or less a compressor with an infinite ratio. I can see where a limiter would be useful placed on the output, only if it's not normally applying any gain reduction. In other words, you only limit the sound should a peak happen to slip through. But the second you start compressing the bulk of a track you end up like almost every other compilation out there - squashed and fatiguing to listen to. Once tracks are mastered they just shouldn't be compressed further in this day and age. This is why I never buy compilations anymore. |

Multi-band compression on top of a mastered file is more degenerative than compressing to MP3. I still advise you NOT to do this. |

Are you a DJ? And are you any good? Making tracks sound seamless is your job, and modern tools like ableton make it way too easy, even without post processing.

1/ Your spelling and grammar are as bad as your DJing skills.
2/ he was the man of the moment 8 years ago, not now.
