I learned to read from my parents reading Dr. Seuss books to me along with various fairy tales.
The first book I ever read was "Hop on Pop"

Richard Scarry, Berenstain Bears, Little Critter - I lived with my Grandparents around that really sensitive age when you start to retain your first memories/learn to read, and they had a ton of my mom and aunt's old books from when they were children. My Grandma read with me every night, partly I think because she knew she would be held responsible for a portion of my upbringing, and often teachers simply wouldn't put up with me when I first started school.
I was never big on Dr. Seuss. |

| Mum used to read to me every night when I was really little, and I'd be looking at the page as she was reading, so I picked up quite a lot just from that. We learned letter and sounds and like that in kindergarten, so I could already read quite well by the time I started school. |

I can't remember. :p
I remember in first grade though the teacher thought I was slow because I always passed on reading. She sent me to a special class once a week and I would read fine in there because I got to choose which books I wanted to read. I just thought the stuff in class was boring! :p
They kicked me out of the special class and just yelled at me to read the materials. :( |

| Honestly can't remember. I know my mother read to me, including Dr Suess books and the like, but I don't know if that's where I learned or if I was taught in school. |

SYSTEM-J taught me 2 read on tranceaddict.com.
actually i learned to read when i was very young. my mother was a schoolteacher and taught me to read at home. i think the first were probably the omnipresent seuss books. i remember i was three years old and we were on a family vacation and i was reading 'hop on pop', 'green eggs and ham', and 'one fish two fish etc' in the car and probably annoying the hell out of my parents. |

| mostly by being read to I believe... I was a very capable reader (and talker) at a young age, so doubt it had much to do with schooling :p |

I learned to read at age three by watching my mom be an avid reader.
I wanted to 'copy' her. Plus both of my parents read to me. |
