I'll be going away for a few months but most of my free time will be in Hong Kong. Does anyone know of any cool places I should check out? Eat? Particular streets, clubs etc.?
I heard its really cool there so I'm dying to check it out. How are the facilities there? Food? I heard its really westernized.
Some insight would be great!
Ooh any know of a good club site that covers the HK area? I would love to see some international djs play there if the timing is right! |

when i was in hong kong i didnt see many clubs. the ones i did see was in a bar district called Lan Kwai Fong. everyone there speaks english. its known as the 'gwai lo' nightlife area. they are a couple 7-11 on that little block and its cheaper to buy beer from there (and drink on the street) than to buy beer at one of the bars.
the best wonton noodle, in my opinion, is at Mak Mun Kee. take the Jordan exit on the train. its somewhere around there. http://yeinjee.com/2011/hong-kong-m...wonton-noodles/
for shopping, go to Temple Street at night. there is a nice clay pot rice place at the end of Temple Street. the street gets closed down in the evening for pedestrian traffic only so the clay pot rice place puts their tables all out on the street. they use little charcoal stoves to cook the rice. http://www.plateoftheday.com/299/ here is a pic of the little charcoal stoves with the clay pots cooking on top

another good place for shopping is Mong Kok. it is open during the day but after 6-7pm they shut down the streets for pedestrian traffic only. lots of little street vendors that sell snacks in mong kok as well.
there is a small fishing village called Tai Oh. you have to take a train and then a bus to get to it because its quite remote. you can buy your seafood fresh from small vendors on the street (one of their relatives is the fisherman) and then you take it to one of many restaurants to have them cook it for you.
another place for good seafood is an area called Sai Kung. i went to one restaurant that had so many aquariums outside that it looked like a pet store. lol here is a pic of that restaurant
thats all i can think of right now. |

btw, hong kong is the type of place where you will NEVER go hungry.
each street block is small (you can walk from one street to the next usually in 30-60 seconds) and you are bound to find at least one place to each on each block. its friggin ridiculous.
you can even find food vendors in many back alleys and nook and cranny.
i remember i was wandering the street with my sister and my mom called to tell us to meet them at some restaurant. i walked through an alley between two buildings and there was a secret back road lined with restaurants and they were all BUSY! i was in awe.
i remember exiting a metro station and there was another small building (located within the bus terminal) that had a small diner. located on the back wall of that diner was a tiny food vendor that had maybe about 100st.ft of space. craziness.
just talking about hong kong makes me miss it a lot. its my favourite place in the world even though ive only been there once (for one month). hoping to go back for another month this year or next year. |

I was at Club Beijing 2 weeks ago in Lan Kwai Fong. Very commercial and show off type crowd. In fact i found this to be the case in most of Hong Kong. Wan Chai was the same except even cheesier. My advice is to head over to Macau. Lots of nightclubs in the casinos. Also its just like being in vegas (Literally). I was at the Venetian and the MGM for example. There is a club called Cubic in the City of Dreams in Macau that is supposed to be awesome.
The Fast Ferry 1 hour each way is $30 CAD round trip and the hotels in Macau are much cheaper.
Or if you have a visa, go to Shenzhen in mainland china. Lots of club options there as well and also cheap massages. (no chinamon, not the happy ending ones!) LOL
PS be careful which girls you approach. They could either belong to some pimped out gangsta ( a real one, not the wannabes u see here) or they could be hookers (Unless u want one LOL) |

Jay or anyone else, I have a visa... but I entered through Beijing, make my way to Xi'an City then to Shanghai then go to Hong Kong.
I only have one entry... can i go from Hong Kong to Macau and back to Hong Kong?
I heard Macau is just like Vegas as well. but hotels were cheaper in Macau? Strange no?
And whats at Ocean Park? Tranny's, hookers? LOL |

| Man, you'll have a blast in HK!! I was once only there for 48 hours and it ended up being the best part of my trip! Just meet locals and ask them, they will point you in the right direction for sure! |
