Cigarette Smoking Withdrawls

What's up COR, I have smoked for almost 8 years and recently quit; April 7th to be precise. Since then I have been experiencing horrible rollercoasting emotions,dizziness,panic/anxiety attacks, the list goes on. The last few days have been alright with the exception of yesterday I was at the mall with my gf and felt like I was going to pass out/fall over. Really thought the symptoms subsided but I was proven wrong.

I was curious about other TA's experiences and how long it took them to get rid of these symptoms;or just to feel normal? Also any tips or activities you do/did to distract youself. Right now ing and listening to my vinyls helps.

Thanks COR
Igaryok
Maybe quitting cold-turkey is not a good idea after smoking for 8 years. Why don't you try to reduce the amount of cigarettes you smoke per day? So if you smoked 20 a day before, try to reduce it to 15, then to 12 in the next 3 days then to 10 and so on.

Are you using any patches? nicotine gum etc? Might be an idea to get some just to ease yourself out of smoking.

I quit recently too. First week I just dramatically lowered the amount per day, actually some days I dodn't smoke at all, then I smoked 5 another day, then none again.. It was depending on how I feel and the weather(yeh, when it's hot & sunny I'm thirsty and , my wish to smoke is null).. then I just carried on for a couple of days without smoking at all, smoked one some day and since then - zero. It has been about two and a half weeks since my last smoke, and my wish to smoke is almost completely gone. I think the key is not paying much attention to it.

Small tip - exercise like a mad man, and be physically active during the day, more then you are now, preferably on the great outside, because of the clean air. This has helped me immensely to regain some health and rebuild mah lungs. Plus it pumps your motivation.

Cheers, and best of luck man :)

No, I get how it eases the cravings but since I have no desire to pick another cig up I just went cold turkey.

Thanks for info, everytime I think of a cig I do 10 pushups. I noticed exercising helps expel the tar out of my lungs...really in' gross but at least my lungs are working to get it out. Good luck with your fight as well Vernon Wanderer.

Also I'm pretty sure they make medication now that combats nicotine withdrawal. Chantix I think?
