Eric I kinda know someone who works at itravel 2000 and she can probably help with the best time to buy for the best rates....
Whatever you do, NEVER travel with Air Transat....
ing sardine cans those airplanes...

It's not always cheaper to go through a travel agent. When I booked my trip to Ibiza it ended up being way cheaper to do it myself online. And a lot of websites have phone numbers. Expedia Customer Service was great. That being said, for bigger trips, I always compare online prices with what a travel agent can offer.
I've also had a number of bad experiences with travel agents not responding. Perfect example: I went to a travel agent who my family had booked a couple of trips with. In October 2010 I told her that I wanted to do a European tour in July 2011 but my dates were limited so I wanted to begin looking as soon as tours became available and would like to book in February b/c last time I waited until a couple of months before and all of the dates I had available were taken. She said she would start emailing me trips and offers that she thought I would like. I waited...and waited...and waited. I heard nothing from her. I even called back to remind her. She said she'd email me trips. You know when she contacted me? April. She wanted to ask how my trip plans were going. I told her I had gone with someone else b/c it was 2 months past the date I indicated I wanted to book and I hadn't received any information from her.
The travel agent I ended up going with hasn't been the best either in terms of responding quickly when I call/email. |

unfortunately, that does not always work. that actually doesnt work more than it does work. most travel agents will tell you the deal that is best for THEM (based on their commission) rather than the client.
they might give you a cheap deal but not the best deal. the best way to get the best deal is to shop for yourself because you are only looking out for yourself. |

what you need then is a good agent.
I always look for the best possible deal regardless of commissions because the best customer is a repeat customer. The best customer is also one who recommends you to their friends.
I can usually match or beat listed prices. If I cannot I am always upfront with people about it.
But as in any business you get the good and the bad. |

haha I hate to say it but i already booked with air transat. I asked for a seat next to the chickens. haha
im serious too cept for the chicken thing.
I'm doing toronto to london, then venice back to toronto, Its a looong expensive trip so i had to go with the cheapest. cost me just under a grand, so at least the fare was cheap i guess.
Jay what can you offer for me for flight to leave the 28th to london and come back the 20th from venice? |

I actually don't mind Air Transat. But then again, I'm short. Plus, as you mentioned, if you're looking to save money, it's the company to book with. For average height to tall people though, I would recommend pre-booking an exit seat if possible. I'm sure it'd be worth the extra money in this case. |

Definitely book the emergency exit seats if you can!
P.S. Their food is good too. I love airplane food. lol |
