my windows wont load?

something weird happend yesterday...i rested my foot on my comptuer (rocked it a bit) and then all of a sudden the sound stopped working but everything else was...so i restarted and everytime it goes to the network login thingy...and after i login the box goes away it just stays there....im on my laptop now whats wrong?

| try booting in safe mode, hold down esc or F8 at startup. You might need to reinstall as a last resort (of course you lose anything not backed up). |

i tried that...it still doesnt work :(
if i were to reinstall...would i be able to recover some of my stuff? hook up another hd or somethihng? |

| boot up with your cd-rom, use scandisk. maybe that will help |

Its a pain but yes. You would need a 2nd drive with windows installed, boot from that drive, and you will be able access the other drive and copy off non program related files. |

it sets ur computer back 2weeks/month
or just reverse what u did to encounter this problem |

| if he moved the computer.. and something happened.. what the hell is reinstalling gonna do? its obviously something to do with hardware. make sure everything is plugged in. hard drive to mother board.. check the power cables too. |

Settle down einstein. It wouldnt be a bad idea to check, but most likely the hard drive boot sector is damaged or a file related to the start up or registry is corrupted. I doubt it would get to the login screen and stop if a cable was loose. Think a little b4 you go spouting off. |
