I suspect PKC is a furry (pg. 2)

I understand identification with animals and alternate personas role playing and what not - when I was young I used to play MUDs and D&D all these things.

But I don't get the goofy cartoon la la happiness of the whole thing. It's very disconcerting to me and the only reason it freaks me out. It's those big furry cartoon eyes that never blink. The dumpy legs and big ol furry pot bellies.

WHY IS IT SO GOOFY????

It's just who they are on the inside.

That's all good but my comment is about the fact that there is a homogenous style at the community level, and it is surprising to me that since this an individual identification there is not more variation. The people in the documentary go on and on about diversity, but all the costumes are the same style!

You'd think there'd be furries who adopt like a mayan or egyptian idea of animals, or chinese, or japanese. Or gothic, or ultra realistic, etc etc. The cockroach guy was sort of on that track.

Anyway, it's not 'who they are on the inside' for all of them. For many it's an act (professional in some cases) or a fun thing like cosplay, role playing, etc.

Ah, I see what you mean. It may have to do with a complete and utter lack of market, though. It's obviously an extremely fringe sort of niche, and those sorts of things rarely vary in style because the memetics themselves are transmitted such a short distance. There's no mutation because there's no ordeal, you know?

I mean every subculture has its norms and shared language.

But with this I don't understand why this is the language. I 'get' goth subculture. I get 'punk'. I myself was even a totally devoted JRR Tolkien nerd when I was a kid, identifying with elves and . So I 'get' all of that. And I have had gender identity issues my entire life too.

But what I don't get is why the furries are all seemingly modeled after the creepy animal tschockes that your grandmother began collecting after one of her children died in an accident.

Who decided that was going to be the style?

And they all go on and on about happiness and openmindedness and 'creativity', and I just wonder if it's not really about 'animal' identification at all.. it seems that the 'animal spirits have inspired man since prehistory' motive is bull, and that what's really bringing these people together and driving the style and the expression is more a longing for an innocent (and in some cases not so innocent) and extended adult childhood.

This would also explain their preference for cheesy trance music at parties.

Sort of like adult babies, but with fursuits.

LOL nah, not really. I mean adult babies like to be taken care of and stuff.

That said, I'm sure there are adult furry babies. Probably called 'pups' or something.

i find it hilarious when nerds give to other nerds for being nerds.
