Hypno Trance

So i've been listening to stillstream.com lately and practising some altered hypnotic states, basically experimenting with the unconscious mind, and i have to say , theres some wierd about the time illusion. I got into all this when my intent was to torrent trance music, and on the list i found hypnosis trance and out of curiosity(this was years ago), wanting to find out what it was about,i listened to it, and it was shockingly powerful for self-mind control purposes, so ive been working on my technique and fine tuning it for a while. An hour under hypnosis feels like 10. Maybe because there are no distractions or interruptions, and the moment seems longer, But it's nuts. The same thing is experienced during anesthesia, since hypnosis puts your body asleep, and your mind is still awake but sensory deprived so you have a ton of hallucinations. I locked myself outside of my body somehow once, my mind was totally awake, but i couldn't move, probably sleep paralysis, but this was vivid. It seems to be most effective on an empty stomach since the brain has less glucose and is less resistant to suggestion aka self hypnosis. It seems to bring things into perspective and waking from it feels like you've slept for a month, it's powerfully refreshing and exhilarating, it restores your central nervous system , so it's not running on adrenaline and damaging cortisoid stress hormones. Anyways ill continue to add to this thread for anyone who cares to know and collage the googlage of compiled research, but i think it's worth mentioning the trance, of trance, listening to trance mixes and meditating is EPIC, as the music/mind connection is increased.

There was actually a film that was made as a tribute to a Doc doing studies on profound unconscious states.

and another doc who wrote a book on a similar subject

Benefits of Hypnosis A.K.A meditation(however meditation is an unscientific term for it).

-Immune system
-CNS restoration similar to sleep
-Increases brain size according to this study
(http://www.physorg.com/news10312.html)

"People who meditate grow bigger brains than those who don't. Researchers at Harvard, Yale, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have found the first evidence that meditation can alter the physical structure of our brains. Brain scans they conducted reveal that experienced meditators boasted increased thickness in parts of the brain that deal with attention and processing sensory input. "

-Heals burnt out adrenal glands
-Slows aging (less burden on cells)
-Permanently increases attention span according to this article
(http://www.physorg.com/news102179695.html)

We found that regions of the brain that are intimately involved in the control and regulation of attention, such as the prefrontal cortex, were more activated in the long-term practitioners," Davidson says.

What's the scientific term?

I assume science has studied this, right?

Also a noted name http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ernest_Hilgard

He apparantly found some strange phenomenon he called the hidden observer those supposed "spirit theories".

Ernest Hilgard became convinced that we all have another being sharing our lives. Hilgard termed this entity the ‘‘hidden observer.’’ In one of his books, Hilgard described a classic test of how this hidden entity is part of our consciousness. He wrote of a blind student who was hypnotized and, while in a trance state, was told that he would become deaf. The suggestion was so strong that he failed to react to any form of noise, even large sounds next to his ear. Of course, he also failed to respond to any questions he was asked while in his trance state. The hypnotist was keen to discover if ‘‘anybody else’’ was able to hear. He quietly said to the student, ‘‘Perhaps there is some part of you that is hearing my voice and processing the information. If there is, I should like the index finger of your right hand to rise as a sign that this is the case’’(Hilgard, 1977, p. 186). The finger rose. At this, the student requested that he be brought out of the hypnotically-induced period of deafness. On being‘‘awakened,’’ the student said that he had requested to come out of the trance state because ‘‘I felt my finger rise in a way that was not a spontaneous twitch, so you must have done something to make it rise, and I want to know what you did’’ (p. 186). The hypnotist then asked him what he remembered. Because the trance was light, the student never actually lost consciousness; all that occurred was that his hearing had ceased. In order to deal with the boredom of being deprived of both sight and sound,he had decided to work on some statistical problems in his head. It was while he was doing this that he suddenly felt his finger lift. This was obviously strange to him, because under normal circumstances he was, like all of us, the ‘‘person’’ who decides on how the body moves. In this case he was not. Not only that, but ‘‘somebody else’’ in his head was responding to an external request that he had not heard. As far as Hilgard was concerned, the person who responded was the ‘‘hidden observer.’’

Don't you realize by now, that anything that is FREE and effective for psychological and physical well being, will not be funded by the gov for research, or will be made illegal, as, their corporate pals will gain no profit, the longer your around, the more pension money they gotta dish out. Scientific discovery is guided by potential net profit..Its a business. The research will never be in. It will be mocked down through the centuries by the general public who are themselves, under perma hypnosis. There are men of genius who have legitimate interests in these topics and wont be supported by the gov for the very reason that they simply have no role in their geo political plans. Most people live in an intellectual bubble that values knowledge, not for it's worth in wholeness and understanding of the universe's greatness, and divinely guided sense of moral purpose/ self understanding, but only in terms of monetary gain. The value of knowledge in a society which values monetary gain , is based off of utilitarianistic altruism, Are you useful to others? If not. Just pay your taxes and STFU thats their attitude. Perhaps watching the film "the island" would make you consider a different perspective. If smart people like yourself are into discriminating people just for the purpose of arrogance, than i guess it is not very hard to consider the grand scale of people with actual power. Are you denying the existence of evil? and failing to consider that perhaps... There are sciences that are healing which will NEVER be spoken of. Or perhaps we are immortal and do not know it? technically we have always existed, it's just that a million years ago we could of been molecularly a pinecone used by a caveman to wipe his arse. Who knows. Depends if your idea of immortality is wether we need to be conscious or not. TO me, nothing is dead, or alive. Hilgard's studies are an epic, since they probe the possibility of indefinate awareness.

Hilgard's studies have been repeated , they are totally objectively accurate(occur in all hypnotizeable people), during total unconsciousness, there is awareness...they have replicated it thousands of times. Hilgard alone in his time must of done the experiments with hundreds of patients . This is not about supporting hypnosis. Its about supporting the art of being in deeper more profound states of consciousness while you listen to your mixes instead of shining your betty poker and trying to be a cutthroat rationalist because some other john didn't hand you millions in studies over the web. It's about knowing what makes you useful to yourself, not what makes you useful to others. Anyways the point is, You'll have wild hallucinations, experience blissful euphoric dream states, relive fun memories, and it's good for ya. It's an ancient art, and discipline, if your truly a trance addict, you should experience trance while in trance, and ill continue to expand on the thread as long as i dont get suspended for my mild use of humor.

Going around pompously thinking that for something to be true it must be "scientific" is foolish and leaves you vulnerable, why don't you read heideggar or hume who are celebs in the intellectual world for disproving the stupidity of people residing in that bubble of thought. 70% of all epistemological value outdates every decade. Remember the first ipods? Yeah. Well their as good as now. Eternity is the time ir takes to know everything, and one could spend several lifetimes studying one thing. Science doesn't really tell us what a thing is, just what it isn't compared to other things. We still do not know what anything is. We just know what it isnt.

Not only do we not know anything, But learning is a gradual discovery of our own ignorance - Socrates
