age does matter. you feel a stronger camaraderie with people who share your same reference points (ie. NKOTB vs Backstreet Boys). And why your two best friends (ahem) and boyfriend all your contemporaries
Sure, if you're talking about your closest friends. Even still though, in our group of friends there's an age range of almost 10 years btwn the youngest and oldest person. If this guy is just looking at people to go to the club with, I don't think it's quite as relevant.

and how did we meet lise? And in our group, we mostly range 26-32, with a few people on either side. Hes younger, so 19-23 is probably his range (and legal drinking age). And for myself, especially if I was just starting out partying, I would want people experiencing the newness as I do...which would be rare for a 30 year.

I see where you're coming from - I'm only 22 and have some similar sentiments...

You're proving my point. Even within the range you suggested, that's 5 years. I think you're mistaking my comment for saying that as a 19 year old it'd be normal to hang out with all 30 year olds. No, of course not. But what I'm saying is that he doesn't need to hang out with all 19/20 year olds. When I hear "the same age as me", I think exactly the same age. I'm suggesting people within a 5 year range, maybe a few older. Graham is a perfect example, hanging out with mostly people older than him when he first got into the scene.

I've seen this done once before but can't seem to find the thread, so I'm going to repost. I've been on here for a few years but I'm not really a regular, and definitely one of the youngest people on here. Looking to see if there's any more people around 19-23 or so who are into the same kind of music as the majority of this site because it's hopeless finding people around my age that enjoy some proper house music nowadays.
P.S. I'm not talking about Trance, no offense to those of you who are into it.
Not quite proving your point. You formed an argument against him, even though he suggested a four year range (or so) and for a 20 year old guy, thats reasonable. If he was 30 and asking for 19-23 year old people, then it would be a different story.
And always there are outliners (aka Graham because he is so smart and interesting, even at 17) but the OP did say "or so" to show his boundaries were not rigid. No need to give him hell.

I didn't give him hell. You're the one giving me hell.

Talking about music is good in the case that you happen to run into someone who likes what you like and than you can be easy friends. Well NO. Listen here chap. I can tell you from a 100% psychological perspective, that choosing the people you associate with based on their taste in music is stupid..you'll be sadly disappointed.
You need skinners approach to judging mankind, A scientific view. I see people as organisms who adapted to the various stimulus in their environment. If they are a certain way because of musical influence i dont go !! F**** HICKs, F*** hip pop i hate u!!!!! U Dun listen to Electronic music, U DNT LIKE TIESTO .. OMG U LOSER!!!! No. Wrong. You have to see people's brains as just instruments that all just wanna have a good time. For you having a good time is electronic music so you think only someone who likes EDM can have fun. But, you'd be surprised, everyone kinda feels the same way. Even the top 40 crowd is goin. Omg they dont like shakira, lady gaga, !!! omg they r missing out!!!!!!!!
So, it's not their fault for liking that disgusting music, and you should still be nice to them. You have a different musical accent. So what?
Age is also kinda a bad way to judge, @ 20 when people are adults... they may just stay the same throughout their life. Once your 20, your brain is set, Thats who you are, People don't change. What if your still a hipster when your 60, and schnobs who are 20 think they are too good for you because of their elusive youth. I'd feel insulted. Cool old people say "F**** the youth culture. Because your whole life is ahead of you, your beautiful, and us old farts are just the 2nd banana, just a bunch of ppl sitting around waiting to be creamated, Well you !!!!*(Y^&^(*(&*^"
So, i'd say. Careful who you judge. BTW. Some old people have alot of power. Because theyve been accumulating it over time, just like you would if you were smart. For young people. Life starts when you get laid, and for older people. It starts when you pay off your mortgage, which is usually @ 40 for the average joe.
Your whole idea "hey who likes my music and is my age" lets b friends. Isn't reality. Theres a rennaisance writer who wrote a series of essays, His name was michelle de montaigne. In the 1500's people were uneducated and didnt live to be 25. Michel de montaigne completed his essays around 40 years of age, and died @ 50, Because he was an elite, he got to live alot longer than most people( his friends who mostly died around 20 years old from disease and war),He could not be friends with the other elites as they were scumbuckets, he could of made it far in politics but decided not to bother because his rare sense of morality prevented him from putting people @ risk for a bunch of lies, so in those days, not wanting to lie to hurt ppl made you insane, and he couldn't do the politics because he was exceptionally a humanist/genius. The old bastards were sending IGNORANT -20 year olds to war in the rennaisance. Using religion in that time for conquering the world, which succeeded until the 1800's (birth of freud, nietzsche, pavlov,) coincidentally.(smrter ppl came when the BS ended)
His comment was " Mankind cannot make a worm, yet, he will create gods by the dozen". This proves his attitude @ the time.
Anyways, So he sat in a tower in his estate and wrote. He wrote about life, and never got recognition for it.
Point is, im 20, and the most influencial character in my life is/was like 50, and lived 529 years ago. You do need a good brain to understand the way he writes, but its not so bad. Easier than nietzsche and not as bad as heideggar.
I dont give 2 fux if someone worth talking to is 60, lived 1000 years ago, is a m/f. Simply because im smart enough to realize that none of it matters. So, go ahead and talk to those people you ignored based on your false bias, and get off of this website, because it may aswell have any title. People aren't what they like in terms of music. They are their morality.
