'Jackass' Star Ryan Dunn Dead At 34 (pg. 4)

a solid blog post by a friend of mine

quote:
As far as I’m concerned, 34 is a tragic age for someone to die: they’re still young, probably starting a family, or thinking about it if they haven’t already, and have their whole lives ahead of them.

Perhaps this makes me an unimaginable bitch, frankly my dear, I don’t give a flying , but when someone like Dunn dies doing what he did best, being a raging , I have a hard time giving a damn. This is not tragic. This was deliberate. He died doing what he loved, behaving like a moron. Wasting your life that way is nothing to celebrate. He provided the world with idiotic humor that’s called for at times. But when someone deliberately drives drunk off their ass, speeds, and runs head first into oncoming traffic, that’s not tragic, it’s stupidity at its finest.

Again, this may make me a raging bitch, but he seemed to have far less respect for his young life than I do right now by virtue of his behavior alone. I’m sure the loss is felt, and I’m sure loved ones will grieve, as they should. The loss of a loved one is tragic. However, this kind of reckless abandon is far from tragedy. Maybe the cheese stands alone on this one … I just hope I don’t get hate mail for this. Not enough people read this blog to really care, methinks. I should get out unscathed.

As far as im concerned, he got what was coming to him, you can only tell death to piss off so many times. But from what I've heard about him through friends who had a chance to meet and have drinks with him. He actually was a very nice guy and always enjoyed peoples company regardless of who they were. So RIP Ryan Dunn.

Not everyone is perfect. This guy died by the actions of his stupidity, and here everyone is calling him a douchebag, , piece of like as if now it matters...Call me soft, but ill have a bit more class then to sit here and judge someone who already paid the ultimate price for his mistake.

This is a great comment and true.
Everyone does stupid things in their lifetime, it just may not be this severe.

So true...I can think of many stupid things I did that could have easily lead to my death.

Same here...

But I never really did too much to endanger another life though...

Also, drinking and driving just makes it worse...

Yes and no. If he died drunk off roading in the middle of a desert then fine. If he was loaded on a pedal bike and got hit by a truck fair enough. I'd feel bad for him and sure he had a careless death but RIP.

But the reality of drunk driving, especially on a highway and especially at those speeds is he endangered the hell out of other people which isn't right. It's just as likely that instead of smoking 40 trees he smoked a minivan with a full family. Instead of him and a passenger it's him + passenger + a few kids that never had a chance to live a full life and the mom and dad. It's for that reason I don't mind the public hate because it's telling others you don't around behind the wheel when drunk, and if you do then don't expect sympathy. 135mph and almost 0.2 BAC is just absurd...

If there was an actual chance of all this hate could prevent drunk driving accidents, then I'd say it would be worth it. Sadly, much like arguing on the internet...its not gonna change a thing. So instead of being disrespectful to someone who is dead for the biggest mistake hes made, ill try and remember that he was a good person to people in real life and made a very poor life decision that costed him everything.

Atleast if he was an in real life, i'd definately take a shot at him.
