I haven't heard Danny for a little while myself, but given the fact he's been around for such a long time, and has always been considered the "DJ's DJ", I have a hard time accepting the fact 'he's fallen off'.
But as for this event, I'd expect Danny not to be at his best on a cruise. He's the type of DJ who needs long set times to really show off his range. |

I'm basing my bashing on the last three times he's been to Stereo and reports from friends from other parties in the last two years. Not conclusive by any means.
And to clear the air, Danny Tenaglia is the Dj's DJ. |

| Last time I heard Danny H live was July 2010 and he was amazing. His new Dig Deeper compilation is decent. |

| wasnt on the cruise but we had him here in buffalo saturday night at an intimate lounge and it was my first time seeing him and he was amazing!! 4 hours of deep sexy house beats!! i was thoroughly impressed and happy to finally have seen him live after so many friends raving about how good he is. he was running all over the venue during different tracks telling everyone to get there asses up and dance. great guy and performer with true love and passion for what he does. definitely won me over. |

| Yeah I have a hard time believing DH, of all djs, could ever fall off. |

I wouldn't really say he sucked; he just didn't offer that unique sexy progressive journey you would typically expect from him. It was just drop after drop after drop. It could have been any talented local playing the entire time and I wouldn't have been able to tell the difference. He was certainly having a great time and so was the crowd so maybe he felt he didn't even have to go there, as well as the short time factor that he was constrained by.
Then again, after Demi's Cruise Control in 2007 my boat event rating standards went through the roof, so perhaps I'm harsh sob critic.. Jesus christ was that a day to remember... |

Despite so many djs on the bill I went. I promised a friend I'd do at least 1 boat cruise with her this summer and as it turned out, it was a terrifically beautiful day so that was lovely.
Boarding as always was a pain. I would cheer and PAY DOUBLE if one of these cruises actually left on time. C'mon promoters, step up, be ballsy and leave punctually. It will train all the stragglers to shape up. As is I don't think we left the dock til ~1:15.
Spent the first part of the cruise at the front enjoying the sunshine, so can't really comment on the music. R&C were having fun and in high spirits when I finally went inside.
The boat itself is nice with the 2 levels and I'd say overall it was at half capacity. The downside in summer is that the main area is covered, so you don't really get that blazing sunshine out on the water feel. Downstairs was more of the shirtless muscle guys and crazy party crowd. Got some amusing pics when I ventured down for the washroom. And btw, nicest washrooms ever for a cruise! Large clean bathrooms and even portholes by the sinks to let the sunshine pour through.
The upstairs was fun, lots of room for dj/people watching. Danny's set was short, only 1hr 40 mins. With so many djs on the bill though it was to be expected. Fun, bouncy tunes, I recognized some from his recent Soundwall and Global Dance podcasts. He was definitely having fun - dancing, bopping and wiggling away in the booth, making faces at the crowd etc. Was it legendary? No, certainly not. We all know that he thrives doing longer sets, so I didn't fool myself into thinking this would be awesome. But it was good, very fun and well... very Danny. Not boring cookie cutter house, not banging tunes. Just a lovely progression of good fun tunes that are musical and can please the chin strokers yet still keep the dancers happy.
Addy took over for the end and stayed in the same vein though the sound did become more driving. The Christina chick never played.
If things had worked out, I would have opted to skip this and roadtrip it down to Buffalo. Glad to hear that he was in fine form on Sat night!
Umm, what else? He's up for another cruise in Toronto (but that means nada since he always likes to play here). So promoters, get planning for the next time. Open deck boat and Danny for at least 4 hrs, please & thanks. |

woulda probably gone on this if it wasn't for the beats ahoy cruise.
I like Danny quite a bit but I prefer C&C.
Would be great to see him play a longer set on an open air cruise :) |

| Just saw pics for this event and it looked decent but relatively empty as has been stated. One thing though, why isn't the Enterprise 2000 opening their roof this summer (correct me if wrong)? This is the 3rd event I've been to or seen with good weather where that sucker stayed closed. Indoor boat cruise with sun outside is kinda brutal if you ask me... |
