Trying out Spotify in the US...

Even though I signed up on the very first day for an invite I didn't get one (Booo!).
So I just signed up for a premium account for $9.99, which I'll cancel after a month,
and switch over to a free account.
Here's what I don't like so far:
When I search for a track, results aren't ordered in any way by search relevance (am I missing something here?) and there is no way to order it after the search is performed. I can only order by attributes such as Artist, popularity, track length, etc.
If you look at a playlist, say one of Armin's, you can order by date added to the playlist,
but I don't see any way to order tracks by release date.
I don't really care about listening to old music or just putting the thing on auto-play, I want to listen to the latest tracks and very specific ones that I am looking for. Also, good chance I won't even find it since many of those are not even released yet.
Thoughts? |

| I got my Spotify invite. And just requested one today. The trick? Request one through https://www.spotify.com/us/amanda/ -- I read you'd get an invite A LOT faster this way than through spotify.com itself. And it turned out to be true. |

| I haven't touched it since the day I signed up...I suppose it will come in handy though. You can listen to as much music as you want through the application, and you can sync tracks to your smartphone using their apps, if you have premium....that's the basics of it. You can't really extract the tracks (other than ripping an audio stream) from the application, to use for, say DJing. |

It's just like napster, or rhapsody. A streaming music service. The interface is fantastic. So is their track library, and audio quality is super high.

| About time Spotify landed to US. Was introduced to it couple of years ago and completely fell in love with it. The best music service there is, hands down. Basically replaces iTunes completely. .. Well, almost. |

| I have been using it here and there, I like it. I think it's going to put a dent on Pandora since you can on demand listen to pretty much what ever you want. |

Capped a track with dojotech recorder in both offline and HQ streaming modes and compared the spectals. Seems like you get a little bit more quality out of the offline mode regardless of network speed.
Just a heads up to those trying to squeeze out every piece of detail or whatnot.
Also I forgot who posted this, but I got a 2nd account for work. Invite came instantly (for me at least).

Trying it out now.
We'll see if it can get me away from my downloading and podcast habits. |
