I would love to say Brazil, but unfortunately I think you would spend most of your money in airfares right now. If you decided to go, for sure you must go to Florianopolis, but yes, weather is kind of crappy right now.
The budget you have is not that bad, but not for Europe, I would research this little place called Cabarete in the Dominican Republic, it is a very alternative kind of place, English widely spoken, fun people, you can initiate yourself in Kite-surfing, and it is not Puerto Plata (30 minutes away).
Keep in mind, this is not Ibiza, but you will have lots of fun with the locals and foreigners you meet. Fun place to spend some relaxing time during the day, and barhopping during the night (I'm sure they have moe than when I was there).
I went there a couple of years ago, and stayed at the hotel Kaoba, a nice bungalow, and only paid USD 10.00/night - checked the hotel again and it has gone up a bit Kaoba Hotel @ USD 32/night. The place is located one block from the beach.
In case you decide to go somewhere else, have fun and book it soon because we are almost in August already. |

It is decent, nothing spectacular. Just to warn you, you might have people walk up to you and ask you for some oxy. |

I heard the party scene in LA is tricky because everything's always so far away. You go to one good club, the after party is across the city.. public transit takes forever, you're cabbing it all the time. |

Air Canada has some roundtrip deals to South America. You can go to Sao Paulo for around $700 or Buenos Aires for $900. You can even go to Europe (i.e Paris) for like $450.

one thing that sux with Air Canada is if you have to cancel and have a credit with them. Their flights can rise dramatically in price but if you go with another carrier you have more options under that scenario.
Air Canada's customer service is great too if you have a novel close by. |

i did berlin last year. was there for a whole month. spent close to $3500CAD for everything (flight, apartment for a whole month & spending $).
i'm doing ibiza, formentera & barcelona for 3.5 weeks this year. roundtrip flights to barcelona right now are at 778$ on airtransat...ing cheap, considering it's high season. i booked too early and paid 983$ :( still a very good price but still...if you can find someone to stay with or a ing cheap hostel, i think i'd go to barcelona for a week with your budget.
i'm doing burning man next year. i have sooooo many friends that have been & they all tell me that for the full week, considering every single expense u can think of (flights, RV, food, water, etc) it costs about $2000CAD per person to live comfortably.
you can also go to vegas, south beach or nyc with your budget...
i'd go to a city where u have friends so u can stay with them. finding a place to stay is usually what eats up most of one's budget. if u can scratch that out, then more dinero to blow on partying :) |
that is ing epic but just one question. How do you get to take 1month or even a few weeks off at a time to enjoy all this assuming you have a fulltime (9-5) job :( ? |
