Welcome back Palm!

I thought we'd lost you for good, as I didn't see any of your alts posting :D

According to NI none of the 64 bit plugs work at all, and same goes for waves.

Oh, and I can confirm first hand that protools does not work on lion. You can't even fudge it to make it work. It just freaks out constantly and in most cases won't even open a project.

If what you have now works, why would you upgrade? Dealing with the headache of plugins and drivers not updated/supported is not worth it.

i want to try new things. but theres isnt much new here, some desktop details here and there which i like (launch pad, mission control, better preview) but all in all its nothing to rush for people who has alot of software.

im curious though, how the hell can i re-install Lion without a DVD? especially on a new disc?

Clay, when downloading from the App Store, the Lion installer was placed in your Applications folder.
After installing Lion it deletes itself. I scooped it out and made a backup before updating.

If you have a second Mac, just download it again from the App Store and back it up somewhere.
You can easily make a bootable DVD or thumb-drive with it.

Officially, Apple wants you to first install Snow Leopard on a new system, before updating to Lion. Yeah.....not gonna happen and too much hassle.
Or you can buy a $69 retail thumb-drive with Lion on it sometime next month, if you fancy a $40 usb-stick.

Don't forget the recovery partition by the way.
You can install Lion again from the internet if your system somehow crashes.

Is this an update or do I need to buy something?. So far what I'm hearing doesn't make the update too appealing...I think I'll wait this one out...thanks
farris
You need to buy it. It's the next version of OS X (10.7).
So far it's OK, no revolutionary new stuff other than transforming your desktop or MacBook into a giant iPad.
A lot of UI tweaks. Of course a lot more improvements under the hood, but also the necessary bugs.
For us it's important to note that as mentioned earlier some DAW's, plugins and even interfaces (like Apogee) aren't entirely compatible yet.

One of the things is reverse scrolling (mimicking behaviour in iOS). I'll give it a week to see if it'll grown on me.

At 23,99 euro ($29,99) I found it worth to upgrade, seeing as this is going to be the OS for Mac the next 1.5 to 2 years.
No need to upgrade immediately, but within time you'll see Snow Leopard support will decline almost forcing you to upgrade.
