Take a look at the stable of artists he has on his roster ...

http://cadenzabooking.com/artists.php

It's not exactly a list of cheesey djs & producers, and he pushes the little guys at his gigs and his residencies, through his labels etc

He has created a pretty big brand in Cadenza (one that is starting to rival the likes of Cocoon + Minus) and had big commercial success as a result of it but I don't think you can say that he has sold out on his roots. At the end of the day if you go to a show of his yeah you will prob hear some cheeky sampling (which can be fun at times) but for the most part you are still hearing upfront/unreleased dancefloor friendly house and techno. The chin-stroking aspect to his sets seems to have been removed, which works perfectly for me.

IMO anyways ...

I know what you mean but what im saying is he's not as forward thinking as he used to be in terms of productions, i also do not like his spanish vocal remakes anymore, it's getting tiring and he should move on to something way more interesting and new. He signs one hit wonders to his label too, spanish influenced tunes with a tech house bass line that are bound to become hits - thats the staple of his label, which is fine but when is he going to get over that? When i said commercial i was really comparing him from his roots and very interesting production arrangements that would blow your mind to completely uninspiring tech house that i've heard him play a few times BUT i want to see how he's going to play this venue and from what i heard so far this party is going to be very interesting one. I'm not hating on him, like you said he's got massive demos hiding in his bag that no one heard before so i would love to hear those instead of the bs i've heard prior in detroit. If he plays really well i'll take my words back :p

these tracks came out 3-4 years ago

IMO he pioneered this sound, and it has a little more legitimacy coming from him since he is in fact from South America. Although that sound did get played out really badly, Luciano still does it right in my opinion.

Although there were a few really cheesy tracks in that set, all in all I really enjoyed it. They destroyed that stage, and it was one of the best sets I've ever seen at DEMF. I don't really think it was generic tech house. If you heard it now, you'd think it was generic tech house, but this was over 2 years ago which is an incredibly long time in the dance music world.

Yes he did, i think even Ricardo did it way better back then with original music but as you can see from his current stuff he slowly went away from that style. I find his current productions are still very interesting even though i don't listen to a lot of techno anymore:

still pushing boundaries of techno/microhouse.

i'll give you that, it was a main stage closing party so they really had to bang it out. I did enjoy his boat set vs loco dice way more though.

Doubt it, I dont think they do tag team sets anymore. Luciano + Ricardo still do though from time to time. Plus Locodice is playing @ Guv for LoL.

just tell them that it is Carl Craig already, and tell them who you booked the second night...unless Montreal will be the only one to have him?:p

lol Ok, Yah Maybe your sarcasm is quite warranted... Also a tad too far North.
I'm keeping tabs on this party and looking forward to seeing the line-up!

LOL I was just playing around :P

I've actually been to a similar event (wedding) at this location a few months ago, it has crazy potential. I also don't mind that its away from the typical locations, I'm sure it'll weed out some of the unwanteds.

Cadenza still releases some good stuff occasionally.

Quality LP and that is def the standout track off of it for me.

The other Frivolous EP from last year with 'C:\My Consciousness' was awesome and I never knew he was from Montreal up until recently. His live show looks very unique + interesting.

Quality house music ...
