Welcome to the club.

And I'm glad you got a chance to see him in his element. He really is something else.

oh Martin... I really wonder sometimes what you think of me. I feel as if you picture me as some 450 music lover who digs David Guetta and Armin. I was merely using these two as mainstream examples. Do you forget how much I love guys like Sven, Magda, Loco Dice, Marco Carola, etc?
Zyklon_Jay

You are the one that use SVD and Armin as comparison.

If you would have compared DT's performance with anybody decent, I wouldn't have said anything.

And let's be honest, you have been gushing over some really cheezy stuff lately.

But it doesn't mean I don't love you very very much.

Maybe we don't have the same definition of "impressive" .... But I have a feeling this conversation is falling into the usual musical taste bull

Seing Armin play cheesy songs with 5000 people on the beach singing every single song as if they wrote it themselves is pretty impressive to me

Doesn't mean I enjoy it fully, but I get goosebumps when I see all these people smile and cry of joy when he performs

On the other hand, seing a techno Dj layer 18 different industrial sounds/effects/etc with 2 computers a mixer and an effect box is quote interesting aswell, but it doesn't touch me as much as it touches you maybe

But when I hear Djs like Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano fool around with cd players, make like edits, layer tracks and loops with accapelas all live with no sync button .... I'm really impressed

Again it's a matter of taste, and I feel that judging someone for what he likes or impresses him is not the way to go

Tiesto still impresses me a lot even if I don't necessarily like what he plays ... Just in another way ... On a different dimension of djing

Something wrong with that ? Obviously not

I see your point, but my answer was regarding this post

Of course seeing 5000 people crying must be impressive.

On the other hand, this post is saying that no DJs will compare after experiencing DT, and is now jaded to the point of not being impressed by Armin.

So... it's not so much about musical taste, or layering 18 effects, rather than at least comparing DT with some sort of DJ that plays more than 2 hours and has time to change shirts 3x during his set.

As much as I like to give Tenaglia grief, he is still miles above many of the new acts today as a DJ. We live in the era of bookings based on productions. The problem that this creates is that a vast majority of these guys do not know how to adapt to a live setting and are mediocre at best at pacing the dance floor.

Danny's 2003 marathon night still ranks among one of the better after-hours nights this city has seen in my eyes. I make fun of him because of his I'm bigger than the game attitude, but he can still deliver. In my eyes, the quicker we can get rid of the superstar DJ, the music and parties will be better.

do you know why people who dont listen to this music find DJ culture and the huge booking fees a really weird thing? Because it makes absolutely no sense.
Marcus007
I don't think I chose the best examples hehe... I really don't find AVB or SVD impressive to begin with other than the energy they bring to their venues (like Louis mentioned)

but even someone like Victor Calderone and D-Formation (who I love and have seen at Stereo many times) doesn't compare to Danny. If I compare a D-Formation set to Danny T, Dimas set sounds like the same 4x4 routine I've heard since I got into this scene. Danny on the otherhand is completely unconventional. This coupled w his incredible stage presence makes me go WOW. He really brings it...

Does this make 4x4 artist bad? Of course not, they have their market and their crowd and good for them. I just feel enlightened after experiencing Danny T. He kinda proves that 1+1 doesn't have to each 2

p.s: i love you too martin even though I don't think you love as much as u used to sniff sniff

Yep, that's what I love most about DT... He smashes the borders between different styles of music and breaks down the divisions we have built up in our minds.
Zyklon_Jay
I'll give Avb a little credit, because he didn't always play music. I can remember seeing him at ARIA a long time ago before the ty asot crap. big tech, no fluff.

Ravemontreal
See markus, that makes more sense.
