How does Burial get his drums anyways? It sounds like he got a bunch of drums and saved them at 96kbps.

Sounds like he sampled from el-b tracks (that snare sound he uses every track is exactly the same) then he chucked crackles on top which is basically what he said in that interview :p

This is so funny. I reckon he's trolling everyone.

Soundforge, at least up to version 7, does not have multitracking cpability, so unless he's just merging all his sounds together, all on one track, there's no way you can produce like that. Unless he's got a smapler or some other sample playing method, he has to be using a sequencer.

Personally, I think his stuff is atmospheric and all but I can't help feeling it's a case of emperor's new clothes going on, and the mystique surrounding him, has made him way more infamous than the substance or merit of the music.

I think you pretty much just nailed it. And, I agree that the whole SF thing was probably just made up to intensify the mystique. Musical meh meets marketing brilliance.

Well put.

By the way dave, where you been - I haven't been on here that much over the past few weeks due to travelling in Europe, but I could have sworn you vanished for a good few weeks recently? Hope everything is all good?

Everything's good, thanks. I just got busy with work, family, music, etc. and just needed to lay low for a bit. On the plus side, I finished my best song ever!

Glad to hear it! Congrats, is it available yet? I'll check it out when I get back home later if so.

Loving the robocop essay http://www.popmatters.com/pm/featur...-a-reappraisal/...i'm tempted to write one about bedknobs and broomsticks being the greatest film of the 70's, but i fear the TA backlash may be to hard to take:p

How'd you hear about this?

On Burial, if you haven't already, check out his Street Halo EP from this year. Great stuff, and along with the Four Tet collabs it finally sounds like he's got somewhere new to go with his aesthetic. Maybe we'll get a new album soon.

Nah sorry, I don't go in for hype but Burial's albums are among my favourites, probably in my top 3-5 artists of all time. I wouldn't be surprised if he was taking the piss with the soundforge stuff, but I would believe that he uses a few game samples in his tracks.

SYSTEM-J
Yeah, but how did you find that link? You weren't a TA when I posted that, unless you're an alt.

ban all alts lol haha. system-j getting paranoid. anyhow, burial is pretty overrated imo. sure its a couple of nice tracks here and there, but the sound is really bloody empty imo. its like he is afraid of his own speakers it just doesnt give me any energy or thrill what so ever eventhough the athposphere is often pretty good. maybe its good as sleep music - or a soundtrack for when you are about to overdose. i rather listen to soul though if i wanna relax. ill give him one thing though, he manage to get himself pretty good promoted with his mysterious unknown hidden image.
