I've heard this asked elsewhere but never answered, wasn't the building + stock insured? Not saying the event is good news for them or anything but it's like if your house burns down, you get insurance money and buy a new one you don't become homeless. Don't understand how this would bankrupt a label...

Wow, watching that video made me shiver and cringe at how disgusting those acts were. Honestly, some people are such ing scum bags but they are up there with the worst of the worst.

Because paying customers that have spent a lot of money to order records that they will not get usually does not lead to repeat business. Customers do not care about extenuating circumstances, customers only care about receiving what they have paid for.

no matter how you cut it, it is not good for business and insurance will not cover lost sales, at least this is the understanding i got from reading about this. These are small labels relatively speaking, selling a medium that is not very economically viable to begin with.

they will get their money back though.

and related to other question, if arson/vandalism was part of the insurance prior to the incident then yes everything will be reimbursed, they could potentially make even more money because if everything burned down they will get paid for every single record that got destroyed in the fire (store price).

Yeah, for sure but refunds don't make people happy. Having the products you want make people happy.

If you pre order something that you have been waiting for a long time to have, and all of a sudden when it is time to get it you get a:" Sorry we can't anymore, but here is your money back.".

This causes problems. The customer does not care.

i'm sure customers would be understanding in this case, it's not like the label decided to everyone, they will probably make customers aware, nothing could be done really until is repressed.

Trust me, as someone with a substantial sales background i can tell you that customers don't care. They want what they want and even circumstances beyond your control don't mean .

We live in : Generation Me, where self entitlement always win over what seems logically right or fair.

I can bet there will be many customers using this as leverage to get the labels to pander to them for their business. Like, "I'll wait, but if you want to keep me you are going to have to make it up to me."...which is never profitable.
