I was wondering if anybody would have any recommendations for me of record labels, both existing and defunct, whose catalogs are only/mostly available on vinyl exclusively. I'm leaning towards defunct as well, seeing as it's much easier for me to find ones that are still going.
The style I'm looking for is Detroit techno and deep house. Think labels like Transmat, Alola, Delsin, Peacefrog, Clone, Bio, Music Man, Underground Quality, etc...
Keep in mind, I'm not looking for anything too Jeff Mills-like. Nothing amazingly fast and loopy. I'm sure some of the labels you'll recommend will have releases that are like that, which is fine, as long as there is enough slow slower (sub 130 BPM) stuff as well.
So basically I'm looking for stuff that is both like I had asked for in the melodic techno thread, but also music similar to that coming from contemporary producers like Conforce, Kassem Mosse, Nick Sole, DJ Qu, Black Jazz Consortium, Smallpeople, Redshape, Marco Bernardi, Sven Weisemann, Lawrence, Move D, Vakula, Fred P, DJ Jus-Ed, Quantec, Basic Soul Unit, etc....
Thanks!

Been checking out old 100% Pure, DJAX Up Beats, New Religion, Eevo Lute Muzique, Transmat and Urban Sound of Amsterdam, among others. I'd love some recommendations along those lines.

I like this quote I found in one of the reviews:
quote:
...the fullest, darkly enchanting sounds from a musical time when the future still seemed like a wondrous technological playground and not an everday cliched commodity.
edit: I'm ing sick of how Discogs just keeps recommending me Underground Resistance and Basic Channel/Maurizio records. lol.

I know squat about detroit techno and the artists you mentioned, which means you have more knowledge than I do. I know a deep house label from new york city though.
B12 is pretty much the kind of stuff I'm looking for. I mean I'm finding some really amazing records but still wouldn't mind some recommendations if anyone has any.

Don't really know if they're vinyl only, but have you checked out Kompakt? They have a respectable back-catalogue at least.
Been a while since I've checked out their newer stuff though.

Editainment is (naturally) the one that came to my mind immediately. Also, Deep Moves exclusively releases on very limited vinyl... they only have 3 releases though.

Yea but I'm not really after disco edits...
Anyway, I think this thread has become pretty useless. I thought there'd be more vinyl heads around here.

i have to pimp my friend's new vinyl only label, 'Supply Records'.
They are having their first pressing release party at the public assembly loft in williamsburg (nyc) tonight, for those of you interested from new york.
serious cuts on this. going to be available at select stores in nyc, san fran, boston, and available in europe through honest jons and hard wax.
they have an upcoming release on stilove4music too.
