| It's dope! Great lineups every week and pretty much always a good time :) Vessel Thursdays and PW Fri/Sat are some of the best music in all of SF i.m.o. I haven't been to Ruby Skye since Markus because these two clubs are always booking better artists than Ruby haha |

I've been going there a lot lately and by now it's my favorite club in the city. It's medium sized, has great sound in the mainroom, a cool warehousey feel, good visual projection system, and a very chill vibe from both the staff and crowd. The upstairs is pretty nice too. The sound is obviously not as hot, but it's great to have another room that's an actual "party space" with a bar, lighting, etc, not just an afterthought side area like mighty has.
They've been working with lots of the underground promoters in SF to book actual big name "Resident Advisor-cool" house/techno acts, which seems to be paying off. There have been really nice lineups coming through almost every weekend now.
It's a great spot.
Edit: missed mhubert's post but yeah, what he said. |

| The vibe at ruby is all wrong. went there twice and never went back. public works layout is a bit interesting. Walk in the door and 4 feet in and your on the dance floor. A bit startling at first but the vibe in there is a much more music oriented crowd. So if you're into the music crowd, PW > Ruby. If you're looking for the guys in suits looking aimlessly at potential score targets and have no idea who's spinning...ruby's your place. |

It's a great addition to the Mission and city.
The Good:
- Nice vibe...though often really hipstery...it is the mission
- Never seen a nasty or B&T crowd
- Very respectible Funktion 1...had some issues when Jesse Rose came through, but gotten better
The bad:
- The lighting leaves A LOT to be desired b/c it almost always feels really bright inside; however, the use of the walls with the projector offers some creativitiy
- Don't sell jager (maybe this is a positive to some) and initially didn't have red bull...but i think they may have changed that).
- Gets pretty hot inside on big nights
Best part...just 6 blocks from my house so an easy walk there and a really cheap cab/drunken stroll home |
