wow, that's incredible. makes you think about buying a place down there just to have for semi-frequent holidays. |
It be quite easy to get to that place, when the airport line completed.
Airport (AirportLink) to Government Centre (MetroMover) to First Street. I am just not sure how long it would take to travel by rail. My guess 30 minutes. It just sucks that the airport link won't be completed until after Miami Music Festival 2012.
Anyone have access to RealtyTrac? It is a pain in the ass that people need to pay money to get all the info on places thats are facing foreclosure.
Plus if you really want to be in the heart of the action, there is a place right on Ocean Drive for a pretty penny, info. |

I found such a sweet place in Downtown Miami. 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom with over 1000 sq.ft for like $175,000 in a condo built in 2007. It is just minutes walk from where the Miami Heat play and it has the rail line connected to it. Even in South Beach you can find some deals for places :)
Plus a while back, I saw an article saying that Miami housing prices will only recover by 2016, if I remember correctly.

Word.
I stayed in the top 2 or 3 most expensive buildings @ south pointe called Portofino Towers..pretty well known, right beside nikki beach and those were on par with T.O. prices. For returning visits when I'm not fortunate enough to stay @ Portofino (company condo) there is plenty of really nice studio's in or around south beach and downtown for as little as $800/mnth etc.
$175,000 - So take a guy who makes say $60,000 (which is alot there) he can go in on a $175,000 property and still say on a line of credit if he wanted it be able to get a luxury car say even a used Maserati. Hot cars are a common sight what blew my mind was heading back from Ft. Lauderdale into miami and see 2 black lambo's in a fender bender...def. a wtf moment.
And yeah like i mentioned as you did about the Heat...MANY of those condos foreclosed so its a crazy buyers market now. |

why this will never happen in toronto:
the neighbours of the L train would stop it before it even started siting noise issues.
the people buying into the condo would move in and then demand that the train be shut down because it disturbs their sleep.
There would be a movement on the left wing to have it torn down because it presents some sort of imaginative barrier to the waterfront (apparently there is an invisable force field beneath it) and it is deemed an eyesore. |

The same way the Gardner creates a void between Toronto and Lakeshore? lol |

ranked at 9th most expensive...
and housing prices are keep going up! soon, even the suburbia will be too expensive and people would have to buy a house in peterborough to commute to toronto :( |
Too late. Apt prices in Mississauga are already stupidly high. I was considering staying and being close to my friends, but then I saw what you have to pay for a 1 bedroom, and decided to make the jump. |

that happened here with rosedale to st clair station. condos went up after train was there, people complained after they moved in and they put a roof over most of the track there. |

| So how's that Ford Bros. mayorality working out for you, Jay? Lots of viable, progressive ideas from the right getting pushed through with little debate? |

Not only is he about to tackle the budget which needs urgent attention. But a lot of the damage on the local level is being reversed. We are getting our roads back slowly. A lot of restrictions are being eased. I have noticed quite a few no turn signs that never made sense have been removed, some speed limits have been raised back to normal speeds.
Small things but a sign of a change of mentality in a good way.
Things are going to be tough over the next few years when it comes to cleaning up the deficit. But thats always the way it is. The lefties make the mess and the right gets the flack for using the bleach needed to clean it up. |

you do realize of course that speed limits and in fact all Highway Traffic Act provisions fall under the jurisdiction of the provincial government. not only can the Fords not change these things, but if you do see changes to speed limits, and you're happy about them, well then you should probably fire off a thank you letter to Dalton.
which is probably why i don't for one second believe you. |
