A realistic pespective of making money online.. how hard or easy is it to do?

This is barely production related its more in relation to PTC marketing campaigns, youtube marketing, affiliate advertising and all that junk. For some reason I've got this serious bug up my ass lately as I never really understood the fact that people make money just by you going to view their youtube vids.
I knew it but I never actually thought about it or took time to consider *how much* some people are actually making. So for the last month or so I have put production to the side just to see if it IS possible to make a modest second income online. I'm not talking about the word "rich" here at all. I'm talking about something like $100 a day, everyday, for years and years. The thing I like about is it seems like you spend a ton of time initially getting everything set up, but once everything is done (of course you still gotta update links and what not) its like an automated paycheck.
So I got to researching and have been playing around with random things, only to find myself more confused than I was before. First site I found myself at was "cashcrate". Saw a few vids on youtube with people getting checks upwards to $1000 and above from this company every few months, some as little as $20 every few months. I decided what do I got to lose, I already have a fulltime job so it won't hurt to try.
For anyone who doesn't know, cashcrate is a survey/offer site. They give you small tasks to do basically, and you get paid between $.50USD per survey/offer, upwards to $30-$40 for things like applying for free credit cards. I found out it takes about 10mins just to finish 1 survey, and $.50 to $1.00 every 10mins is money. Not worth it at all.
Thats untill I learned you can automate most of the process. So I downloaded a program called "roboform" and another one called "greasemonkey". These programs basically you put fake information in, and it allows you to finish surveys in 1-2 minutes so you get paid quicker. The more you use the programs the quicker and quicker you get at it.
So my first night I made $25 in 1 hour. A lightbulb went off in my head. "That may not be 'get rich quick money', but its still money, and for doing really nothing at all but clicking every few minutes to start a new survey then run my software". And mind you this was my first time trying it. So apparently there is some money to be made online very easily.
THEN I started to think outside the box about blogging and these "paid to click" sites. So I opened up a linkbucks account although they pay very little. Still, if you are a person who is capable of posting hi quality content videos, or blogs, and can make something that is timeless and keeps getting thousands of clicks daily even years from now... then it definitely seems like there is potential for money. Or you could even work for Amazon if you want theres more than just a couple ways to approach this.
Still, I'm focused on what is the most feasible thing to do. The surveys are boring, and like I said I already have job. I can do the for an hour or 2 everyday after work, and make some extra pocket change... but theres no real room for expansion with that idea.
So now I'm focused on sites like blogger.com, wordpress and youtube. The idea of posting high quality videos and blogs and advertising through them. Having more than one site that pays you than linkbucks. You can have like 3 PTC sites paying you, 3 blogs set up, and even 3 accounts on youtube if you want all focusing on different niche areas.
The ultimate question I suppose, for me at least, is how likely am I to exhaust countless hours doing this, just to find out its NOT rewarding like I thought. If I can't really make a high quality trance track, am I artistic enough to write high quality blogs, or make high quality vids on youtube? And if I do suck at it, but try my best, and am persistent, is there still potential to make around $100 a day?
Like I said getting rich online isn't my focus as its got to be near impossible to do... but how difficult do some of you web gurus envision this to be? Maybe you already tried and were disappointed?
One thing I also thought about is how some of these videos on youtube are NOT even "high quality content", some are total utter crap. The videos suck, but they wound up getting so many damn hits merely due to how they titled the upload. And then you click and wind up getting Rick Roll'd. And as much as I ing can't stand those vids, I mean the guy who started that whole trend must have made a small fortune off the idea. Give a video a title too good to be true, doesn't even matter if the video is real or whats in the video, like the Lady Gaga Penis vids on youtube.. ing genius if you ask me. When you really think outside the box, it seems like theres no limits in this.
Thats why I need you peeps to bring me back into perspective. Have any of you tried this? Am I aiming in the right direction with the blogs/wordpress, youtube and all that? I'll make a ty edited video on youtube titled "Casey Anthony gets high on chloroform" or "Pictures of perez hiltons baby here \/". Theres really thousands of different ways I could approach something like this. But am is my perspective flawed? Should everything I do be totally legit? Because it seems some of the people who get serious traffic on youtube are complete s that just love ing with people. I mean I could definitely succeed at something like that.
But like I said a larger perspective or even just your opinion on this would be great. I could have posted this on 2 other forums, but theres a totally different breed of intelligence on this board which is why I put it here. Thanks. |

You want to make money by duping people into clicking on YouTube videos which don't contain what the title says they contain?
You know you could also go out and sell drugs mixed with really cheap and toxic substances, right? Sure, some people will die, but not before you got your money.
You could send out emails based on the various nigerian scams. Some people make money doing this.
In the end, are you only after the money and who cares about the consequences to other people (some of whom will be your friends and family)? Then I'm sure you'll find a number of creative ways to get at their money. Some people like to break into houses and take the money/assets directly, sparing the person the effort of having to hand it over themselves.
There's another question you could ask. "How can I give to the world? How can I make it a better place?"
Maybe money will come from that thought. Maybe it won't. Maybe there are things which are more important than scamming companies who are looking to get meaningful data/feedback by providing them with junk data. |

Let me ask you a simple question right. The post I made, was it entirely about unethical ways to generate income online?
No it wasn't. So why did you only respond to every negative aspect that I talked about? And not elaborate on any of the legitimate ways?
I clearly listed both ethical and nonethical ways to approach this. But when you read all that and all you really have to comment about is some ludicrous relationship between a drug dealer and a rick roll video FFS that to me just means you are one depressed loser.
Thanks for addressing every single negative thing you possibly could have, completely ignoring all the legitimate things I wrote, and trying to twist it to the point of murder, literally. Your are a moron.
This thread could have ended with a wealth of centered comments but thanks to your crack smoking hallucinations people will now get hung up on things like pedophilia, global warming, the economic crisis, and how it is all somehow tied to youtube video uploads.
Thanks for making the whole forum look 10 times dumber than they were before you posted that nonsense.
I could have came into this thread and wrote about some very nasty and unethical things that hundreds of thousands of people do everyday to make money on the internet, but I tried to present a clear 2 sided case and get basic opinions about each side, not paranoid manifestos.
And common sense should have really told you that there are wayyy worse things going on with youtube than rickrolls videos. So now that we've established you can make money either way. I'm assuming that noone on here has any blogs or has ever even tried PTC marketing campaigns? I mean I see tons of you guys with websites and tutorials trying to doctor things up as sexy as you possibly can, so I know some of you are advertising in one way or another.
Thats ALL I'm asking about. Is it really that hard to give balanced open minded answers?
edit: oh wait I get it its because I'm being too demanding for you in a somewhat off topic thread? And now you're panties are all in a fuss? Well no this isn't a marketing forum but lots of you have websites, youtube accounts, and things you do to increase exposure, if you really can't discuss and just wanna get angry cause its entertaining, trust me I'm game. |

Boards are ruined and owners have had to spend money to block people from doing the crap you were referring to above. If I have to spread crap to make money, I'll go work on a farm.
Want to make good money online? Make/write/compose/etc a GOOD PRODUCT and sell it. That whole 'better mousetrap' thing works. The only thing the stuff you posted on does is clog the net, fill boards with off-topic garbage and PO a lot of people.
It DOES however work GREAT for destroying a reputation. |

I've got a client that makes her money burely based on selling ads. She found a topic that was hardly covered in the dutch language and started a blog about it. It's mostly just google ads and seems to be working well for her.
I think you'd need a fresh approach towards some topic or find a niche and then it could srill be doable today. |

Excellent that does it then!
I definitely don't want to up my reputation cause I've seen it happen to plenty of other people online (like that cockhole selling "the method reports" on youtube who's already permabanned from craigslist and youtube has deleted like 70 of his acounts already). And he has a linkd in account associated to these other accounts, that he actually expects to get viable employment through, which if you look at any of his other accounts, is never happening.
And then on the other hand I see massive companies, some of which are known for some less than ethical practices, who have not suffered a single consequence from such actions. The internet is obviously unpredictable and hard to generalize for anyone.
Still, I'd rather invest my time in something people would genuinely love, and provide a quality service, than dupe them into any bs. So I'm gonna open up a blogger account, maybe a wordpress account too, a linkbucks account, youtube account, and I wanna get some type of site together too. Thats the end goal at least. I still need to figure out what I'm passionate about and actually capable of delivering. Music will definitely not be it. I tend to be an expert at other more controversial topics like relationships and dating, and my real education is in psychology. So I just need to make it different and appealing, and not just another worthless blog about things not to do on your first date.
I also have product ideas too like an electrical portable coffee cup that heats up from a rechargable battery on the bottom of the cup built into the vaccum chamber. I've seen companies release chemically charged coffee cups in the UK that turned out to be a disaster due to pressure build up/cups exploding. The product is in demand cause it sold, the technology just hasn't been sorted out yet.
Ok thats enough rambling TA... will take this to my blog now thanks for your thoughts **mods feel free to delete** |

How legal is it to make tutorials on software?
Like if you got a series of video together on YouTube for a particular program (music, graphics, even office apps) and demonstrated how to do things from very beginners to fairly advance levels, would companies be pissed off?
I know video tutorials are everywhere, but most are by very sporadic, it's rare to see quality series.
I'm sure most of us could throw together tutorials on some things at least.
That's giving back and if you SEO/Keyword it right, etc link it to blogs and social networks, then surely you may start to see some return? |

go on bbc.co.uk or cnn.com
find news on something recent.
Make a video of you talking about the subject. Make sure to insert a picture of the related subject and put it as one frame in the video.
Title the video: Amateur footage of _______
Watch yourself get 90% negative rating.

Write what you know Robby, even if it's on a cliched subject, a different perspective is often enough & you can never second guess success anyway:)
To add a caveat to the $ talk...
I've brought up my illness on here before, well to cut to the chase; i sit on my ass (admittedly because i can't do anything strenuous) month after month, in a flat that is heavily subsidised by the state. Through disability/unemployment benefits i probably have $900 pm after my bills are paid, of disposable income.
The reason i bring this up is simple; easy money is just that EASY. I loathe receiving that money because it's not earnt & do voluntary work, when i can, to ease the burden on my conscience.
Find something you love & it wont feel like work; that's the secret to a fulfilled life, not chasing an easy buck;)

Nobody wants to drink out of a ing giant thermos at their desk, so some kind of cup that keeps warm is a decent idea. |
