American english is just wrong anyway. I find myself having to use it a lot though to be understood in canada. I sorta have English and Not-so-English vocabularies to compensate for them being wrong. It's not their fault though, I blame america.

like generally, Australians have a better understanding of us. I think it's because we export tourists and you export soaps.

And I should bring this up, Ian. You're not in any kind of place to talk about 'proper English'. Unfortunately, this is defined by one of three factors in the UK:

1) Proximity to Birmingham
2) Proximity to Newcastle
3) Proximity to Glasgow

Some Americans say "Vace" and some say "Vahz", it just depends on the person. "Vace" is probably more common, though.
