This will NEVER happen.
The reason is that Apple make over 1bn a year from itunes - if they allowed Flash on an ipad it would make a huge dent in their revenue just from all the ipad customers. You'd never have to download an itunes, track or video again on an ipad.
Now factor in that they've sold so many of the ipads without flash, and there's just no need to adapt.
The reason Jobs changes so much, was not really about hardware - it was about user experience, the way hardware and software worked together, apple's vertical supply methods to deliver content and tools direct to the customer.
Before ipods, you could get an mp3 player just about anywhere but the integration of a music library program that allowed you to buy, download sync content instantly, combined with a large storage medium and most importantly a very sleek GUI, meant it was revolutionary.
As of 2008, Apple had sold 220 million ipods - so in that way Jobs did change the world - the ipod was to the 00's what the walkman and cassettes were to the 80's, if not more so.
Now think of the ipad - same thing, various tablets had been out 10 years before with terrible sales. Apple did it and sells millions, and no, it's not just because of Apple marketing. They feel nice to use, battery life is incredible, and even your granny can operate it.
Now think about all the other products that integrate with each other, both software and hardware, and honestly, even if you hate apple, you'll be hard pushed to think of another manufacturer that has achieved so much.
Some of their really pisses me off, but some of it is truly ing genius. |

You're totally wrong about the reason... Apple makes practically nothing off of iTunes music and video sales, the reason because flash does not work on a tablet interface.... I have an HP Touchpad which has Flash and I work at a store that sells Android tablets. Nothing that uses drop down menus or a hover mechanic works, and neither does anything that requires mouse and keyboard entry. Its not some big conspiracy, Apple just doesn't half ass things and they refuse to implement anything unless it works perfectly, that's why their products are so polished. Remember copy and paste? It took them forever to get it on their mobile devices, but it was because the implementation had to be perfect, and it was when it was finally released, and now every android phone manufacturer has since copied it. Plus, Flash isn't a standard, it ruins your battery life and on every tablet I've used it on its unstable and crash happy. And all of that is ignoring how much of a processor hog it is. Watching HD video is awful because the frame rate drops so much.
The reason is simply this: Flash does not work well on touch screens because everything is designed for keyboard and mouse input, its a battery life and processor hog, and the user experience is absolute . Everything is changing to HTML 5 anyway. To be honest most of the time I wish my touchpad didn't hAve flash. Most big video sites have iPad compatible versions anyway. The touchpad makes you use the actual YouTube websites it's super buggy. There's a reason Android tablets have a stand alone app for it. |

The look of their GUI is a matter of taste, and I have always felt like their intuituve HMI be anything intuitive. That and the fact that you can't fine tune the system, nor modify it the slightest, makes them sub par products in my opinion. That's more about their computers, but I also think iOs both looks and feel like toys made for kids who can't read yet. |

Completely disagree. The line "apple makes virtually no money from itunes" IMO, is not really true and I think that statement has been taken literally, rather than "in comparison to how much money they make on other products. They have sold over 10 billion songs, and it's only increasing in speed every year (5bn new purchases in the last two years compared 2bn for the same period directly preceding it).
Apples net profit (after having paid everything to artists, amazon, their own running costs etc) for itunes in 2007 was $370m, which in terms of today's current music industry is incredibly good going. And that was based on 1.7bn songs sold. Now think that in 2010 they sold close to 5bn songs, and you do the math.
This is not a small amount of money to any company, even apple, and only it's growing.
The argument that flash does not work without a keyboard and mouse is utter bollocks. I have three different cooked android ROMs on my phone that I can boot to at anytime and all of them have flash functionality. My phone does not have a mouse or keyboard and both flash websites and games work just fine. If it has a drop down menu, it just appears and I select the one I want by scrolling down. The ipad has the same if not better touch screen functionality than my two year old HTC HD2, so I don't know what you're basing your argument on.
The ipad has a built in on screen keyboard just like my HTC so that's not a reason either.
Yes, flash is buggy, but it's always been that way, whether it's a mac mini, MBP, imac or macpro or PC. Apple work with Adobe on every product, including flash for all their other computers. If it was because it's too buggy then they wouldn't allow it on OSX period.
It comes down to money, and I haven't even started talking about lucrative agreements with the major TV studios to stream content to ipads, or the fact that apple makes more money on ipad sales now that the entire range of other macs - again flash would kill this revenue stream overnight. |

The problem isnt Apple, but all the dumbasses whos buying the overpriced crap. I mean, they made iPad WITHOUT HDMI input... Whats theire reason? Im guessing so all the previous dumbasses will buy the new model wich will of course come with it, or they can buy the Digital AV adapter (wtf?).
This is just one example out of many (java anyone?) and is one of the reason why Appl and mr. Jobs is so hated amongst none-fanboys.
Ill admit, Mac's have a great interface for music playing and production. But then again, youll get a decent mixer and a way better PC for less than what you'v already used on your Mac.
And dont even try saying "but they dont have any viruses!". There may be less than on a PC, but the security on a Mac OS is worthless. |

Your logic still makes no sense even if you DO think Flash operates well with touch screens, (and frankly you're wrong,) Apple allows Netflix, Hulu, Kindle and and a bunch of "competing" media applications on the App store, and those are free apps bar Hulu Plus. Flash is buggy, slow and kills your battery life among other things. Videos that require the space bar to play? Don't work. Anything that requires you to hover over something doesn't work because you're either touching the screen or you're not...
If you honestly think that Apple would EVER ban Flash from OS X you're nuts, Apple doesn't control software on the Mac, and Apple DID stop including flash with the operating system in Lion. You have to install it manually now. If Apple ever tried that there would be public outrage because it's not the same as a mobile phone OS.

What the hell? By your logic flash would make MORE people buy iPads, how do you suppose that would kill the revenue stream? Apple doesn't even do subscription streaming deals with the TV studios, the ONLY way to watch TV on your iPad is buying the show, downloading it and storing it on the device's internal memory.
