Nicole's set was just great, loved walking in to her percussive techy beats, dance floor was eating it up. The crowd was fantastic, a good mix of the friday and saturday night crowd combined for the perfect vibing party.
Carl Cox came on banging keeping up the tempo and energy that Nicole had built up, thumping techno that reminded me of VC or D-Formation. Excellent mixing and blending of tracks, his accapellas and effects were spot on, but I also thought the night was a bit boring. His set was very linear, definitely wasn't a journey of a set like I was expecting. His set built up and just plateau'd for me, I was hoping for him to switch up the sounds, play more house with some melody, and he did play a few tracks that were leaning in that direction, but then booom techno drop and repeat. If I was drunk the whole time I would have loved what he was playing, high energy techno.. I still had a blast, he played some nasty tracks and the crowd was loving it but I got fed up. Left at 10, he played until 12:30 or so? |

| Rule of thumb: techno sets shouldn't be longer than 2 hours. |

Agree 100 percent.
Carl was going for a steady uphill drive. I would've preferred a bumpy road... I think he's been hanging out with Digweed a lot lately and thought he'd try his style out for 7 hours at Stereo... Left at 10 as well... |

really? Diggers played NOTHING like Cox! Cox was thumping banging techno which then crossed into almost acid styled beats where as Diggers built it up super slowly w melodic prog and then played techno for an hour and a half
I can't really see the similiarity |

Thank you Carl for the best tunes of the weekend for me.
After a disappointing set for me with Digweed the night prior, I needed something to smile about. I had not been looking as forward to Carl because the last two times I have seen him play; I did not enjoy the sets he put together. Too fluffy and not enough bang, very boring. I loved what he did in that room on Sunday. He started out perfectly after Nicole (who btw was an awesome opener), stepped down from the decks and he welcomed the crowd to the party he was about to throw down.
Friends messaged me around 6 and again at 8 and I had nothing but good things to say about what I was listening to. The techno he was dropping around 630, for a couple hours, was relentless - as mentioned previously, even throwing in a bit of that acid house sound for good measure. After 9 he began to slow it down a bit with some good build ups, and a little after 10 some funky Carl came out to play. He had some vocals strung through the set, which I also enjoyed between those four walls. Carl can be a great party DJ, and brought his A game. He had the dance floor eating out of the palm of his hand at times, which was awesome to watch.
Boom Boom kick kick.... BOOM |
